Mefaflo/Megaflow systems?
Discussion
Sorry to Hijack this thread!
I'm about to begin building a 3 bedroom house with 1 en-suite shower, 1 bathroom (with whirlpool bath and over shower) and utility room with dishwasher and washing machine, and a wet underfloor heating system on both floors and I'm having trouble deciding on which hot water system to use.
After quite a bit of reading, everyone and their dog seems to be recommending a Megaflow system (usually Unvented), and it's what we were leaning towards, but our builder is recommending we fit a combi boiler and an electric shower to prevent temperature problems, as he says that it will be adequate for our set-up, and that the extra cost for a mega-flow system wouldn't be worth it for the benefits provided.
I know that the flow rate and pressure will be important, but as we haven't yet started development, we don't yet know what it is.
Can anyone offer any advice about which system would be more appropriate?

If you've ever stayed in a rubbish B&B, you'll have a flavour of what's wrong with electric showers. We replaced our old boiler with a megaflo system, and have been very pleased with it. Also, I was able to build a shower cubicle where the old cylinder used to live, which was a bonus! Get more quotes for a megaflo!

I'm in the middle of buying a house with a megaflow installed. Can someone please enlighten me as to what they are and how they differ from a regular boiler and hot water tank arrangement?
Pretty much the same in principle. Boiler heats hot water in a tank. Difference is that the tank is at mains pressure, and the water is heated by a condensing boiler (or an ordinary one.)Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
