To further clarify the bathroom point.

Bathrooms need not have fire doors provided the bathroom is seperated by fire resisting construction from the adjacent rooms.

Fire doors do however need self closing devices. It is a fundamental requirement and is only varied where the door is held open against it's closer linked to some mechanism for releasing it, fire alarm, fusible link and so on. (Once again, I'm slightly paraphrasing)

iam very soory to say you are 100% wrong on all matters above .
you no longer need self closing devices on domestic fire doors.
if a door is in the means of escape passage/corridor it must be a minimum of 20 min fire rated.
this is for domestic use i think people are mixing both commercial and domestic fire laws these are quite different.
before any one starts saying other wise please log on to part b fire laws in building control.

No, not 100% wrong.

Correct in respect of the bathroom door.

Incorrect in that the approved document does say that self closing devices are not required.
