Right, so we are in agreement that my demands are not beyond the call of duty?

we pay £8 an hour, she comes fortnightly, cleans the whole house (5 bed, 3 bath) in about 3.5-4 hours and takes ironing away, does that for same, spends a couple of hours (£16) per fortnight on the lot (2 of us)

so I guess we spend about £70-80 a month total on cleaning/ironing, but we both work and travel a lot, so the weekends/time at home is valuable and its worth it smile

Nothing. Just get some grateful gimp tranny to do it.

We pay £30 for 2 hours a week for all the cleaning. We also pay someone else £25 for ironing say 7-8 shirts. This is East Berkshire so quite costly. To do what you want I'd say £60 for 3.5-4 hours sounds reasonable. Our cleaner is the sister of our gardener (not regular - cuts back trees 1-2 times a year). I'd always go for a trusted local contact rather than a company.
RE the shirts - how much???

I don't care where you live, that is a proper rip-off. My local dry cleaner offers a wash/iron/return on hanger service: 5 shirts for £8!

You know what the f-ked up thing about this is? It's actually cheaper to get very good childcare and clean the house yourself than pay for a cleaner!

It is almost cheaper just to move house when it gets dirty.

Farkin ell.

I'm becoming a cleaner.

Getting paid £15 an hour for something I already do in my own home? Damn right!! I love cleaning - put on Radio 4 and clean and iron away to my hearts content.

That's crazy... I'm going to have to set up a cleaning company...

My maid comes and does all you have asked for in my apartment plus my mates apartment next door every day Mon-Fri, plus the washing up, laundry and ironing as required, plus she'll chop up pineapple/melon etc all for 4 pound a day.

She's usually in the two apartments a total of 8 or 9 hours so that works out at about 50 pence an hour.

I'm feeling a bit mean now having read this thread, I think I'll have to give her a decent Christmas bonus!!

Currently in Ghana.

She's not the best at ironing my work shirts but given that the irons just a cheapo one she does a pretty good job.
