Thank you for thinking of Jenson, he is doing absolutely fine. I have been off work for the past four weeks due to an injury which has given me the opportunity to let him back outside. Something I was dreading doing but he has enjoyed the freedom but thankfully, isn't straying too far from home and spending a lot more time indoors asleep on my bed.

He doesn't seem as happy as he could be but I'm not sure why. His fur is gradually growing back over the scar tissue on his back although coming back white (He was completely black) He has not suffered at all from having no tail, still happily jumping the 6ft fences with ease.

Only slight issue I have is that he constantly has a scab on his bum, I think when he was stitched up, they altered the overall position and now he is getting little tears when he goes to the toilet. Doesn't seem to bother him though.

Insurance is all sorted and only ended up paying £500 of the total bill. One main issue is that Halifax have stopped doing pet insurance and will need to find another insurer in August, so any further issues will not be covered frown

Thanks for all the advice and support everyone on here has given me smile

Great news. I'm more of a doggy person ,but love all animals. My dog has a soft spot for cats we meet out(he was brought up with cats so he looks to see if thir friendly). One we met is a three legged Persian - who's gone out of her way to woo him,and it's worked. She was brought up with big dogs, so he's no problem .Then they're's a tiny mogy , that has had the gall to first attack him, and he made no response ,and then make friends. She greets him as a dog, sniffing him all round, and he see no threat .

frown Hope you are better soon! You appear to have been in the bad luck fairy's books lately!

Good to hear that he is back outside and staying close, his confidence will return gradually, with time smile

In what way does he not seem happy? The hair growing back white would be the trauma I think, Bex will be better to advise smile

The scab will gradually get smaller too and heal, as ours do smile I'd just keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn't get any 'dirt' in it.

Good news about the claim, not so good about Halfax, but I'm sure your Vet will be able to wrangle it, should it be needed wink

After a bit of advice, Jenson is fully healed and happy but he's constantly got a scab on his anus. I think after all his operations his anys was lifted slightly and am guessing the normal alignment was altered.

He doesn't seem distressed by it and I'm sure he's still pooing although not certain as I've no litter trays. Should I be going back to my vet after this length of time? He's had a scab ever since his last operation in January. I think it's like piles but not sure.

Hi, almost didn't want to open this thread in case it was a bad news update!

I think a vet assessment would be sensible, it will be more at risk of infections and I can imagine sore for him when he defaecates.

Without seeing it I couldn't suggest what may be advised but I can appreciate why it may struggling too heal.

Let up know how he gets on smile

Thanks bex, sorry to frighten you!!! I'll get him off to the vets soon as its difficult with my shifts this week. He's so scared of the vets now that I didn't want to take him if it wasn't needed.

I'll let you know what happens

Unfortunately Jenson has finally used up his 9 lives and was found this morning under a bush. Looks like he was probably hit by a car but not a scratch on him frown

The little guy has definitely put me through the mill in his short life but i will remember him for lying in the middle of the bed and having to sleep around him, or for lying on the stairs and never moving. The amount of times I nearly fell down the stairs because of him.

At least you are in peace now and not being hissed at by Monte every time you walk past.

RIP Jenson xx

I just knew it was going to be bad news when I saw this thread, I wish I could've been proven wrong.

I am so sorry for your loss frown, he was incredibly lucky to have that extra time because of your dedication to him and I hope that is a small comfort to you.

I always dreaded that Lucy would succumb to our road again after what she went through but so far she has stayed away (I think).

Rip little Jensen xx

Poor little Jensen.

At least you have his body to bury or cremate, you have closure.

Sometimes, they wander off, never to return, and you never find out what happened to them.

Like Bex, my heart went into my mouth & then sank when I read your words K, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'll Echo Bex & Maggit, you showed Jenson such love, gave him so much extra time due to your unending devotion & care; at least he hasn't just disappeared & you can have 'closure'.

RiP brave little fighter - go find Bast & Chilli & play xx

Eta - I've just had a good cry for you both (and me) whilst re-reading this thread and knowing the pain you are in right now, I wish I could help xx weeping

Thanks all for your kind words, it means a lot. I have hardly stopped crying all day and even managed to lock myself out of my house when taking him to the vets.

I remember him being on the bed overnight and then this morning in bed was browsing through facebook to see a post which made my heart sink. Somebody posted on our local pages that they had seen a dead black cat very close to my house, I just knew it was him. So much so that I grabbed a towel before I went looking for him and found him just around the corner under a bush that I often saw him lying under.

Since his previous accident, I had hardly seen him the other side of the road until I came home from holiday last week and saw him across the road. I'm glad he has't suffered and that I have had the chance to say goodbye to him, I couldn't have put him through what he went through before.

Thank you again for taking the effort to post on here xx

Hey, how are you this morning, did you manage to sleep any? I know how difficult it is when you are used to them being beside you on the bed & suddenly there's a hole frown

How's Monte taken it? Pepi came out of his shell after we lost Bast & filled her space on the bed & my lap. It doesn't stop me missing her (2 years now) but it does help

Thinking of you xx

Thanks Ali, actually slept ok but think I'd exhausted myself through the day. Im doing ok, keep expecting to hear his silly little meows coming through the door.

I honestly don't think Monte has noticed, although I did let him sniff his body before we went to the vets. Monte and Jenson never really got on, so maybe Monte will be happier now. Ive got to go to work now and am expecting there to be tears today frown

Thank you for thinking of me xx

I'm pleased to hear that you got some sleep, I was worried about that - I know how hard you work and you need rest!

You will hon, I'm sorry to say. 2 years on & a different house & I still think I hear Bast waiting to come in at the window - maybe I do love Pepi certainly looks and meows as tho it's her, I always open it...

You are entitled to grieve and you must allow yourself to do so, Jenson was your friend and companion - they leave a big hole in your life; anyone that doesn't understand that is cold hearted.

See how Monte does, Bast was distraught when Chilli left, we got Pepi within a week to settle her. Pepi was quite chilled when Bast left, obviously missed her; but became a more confident cat with me (Bast was very demanding & he rarely got chance to come on my lap if she was in the house, he certainly didn't get to sleep between my legs - that was HER spot wink!). When Beauty arrived after @ a month, Pepi was quite happy to accept her & understood straight away that she was blind.

Some cats are happy to be the only cat, others prefer to have company, even if it doesn't seem that way
