Morning,

I'll be collecting my first Bearded Dragon this weekend, and am currently in the last few stages of preparation.

I have an Arcadia 140mm clamp lamp fitting (rated at 80W max), with a ZooMed 60W basking bulb.

I've monitored my temps over the last few days and it will not hit 110 on the basking spot.

Rather than get a larger fitting (200mm) and a 100W bulb, I was hoping to add another 140mm fitting with another 60W basking bulb (all controlled by a dimmable Habistat).

Can anyone please confirm if 60W + 60W will give me the equivalent of 120W at the basking spot, or, Is it only going to be slightly above 60W? (I'm thinking sound here, 40dB + 40dB does NOT = 80dB).

I understand that if i was in a room with a 1kW radiator, if i added another 1kW rad or replaced it with a 2kW would have the same (ish) result.

However, I didn't know if it was different with a bulb, and more specifically a basking bulb.

I need the intensity of the light and heat of 2x60W to be the equivalent of 120W on a specific spot you see.

have had exactly the same process as you I owuld strongly advise sucking it up and buying the bigger fitting and getting a bigger bulb. how will you mount 2 60 watts near enough each other to get a decent 'constructive' effect? or you could try a 75watt, but i have ended up with 100 (and purchase an unnecessary number of inbetween bulbs of no use as a result!)

I think I'll just swap the bulb for an Arcadia 75W halogen, which should give me a fair bit more heat, whilst also remaining safe for the 80W maximum rating of the clamp lamp.
