What do turtles like to do?
Discussion
her red ears are developing nicely! mine have all been outside for about 3 weeks now - the longer cold spell we had this year meant they were in for a lot longer than i had hoped - but they were all healthy and happy to get back outside.
a couple of my maps have grown massively over the winter so i think i have about an even mix of male and female. there has already been a bit of "hand" waving which means they want to mate so i am thinking about putting a sand bank into the pond to see if we get any hatchlings.
how big is she now?
have you tried hand feeding her worms?

She is about the size of my whole hand now, and still growing. I don't really see any worms here as our garden is all block paved. We have a herd of dogs who'd dig their way to Australia given the chance.
The problem now is finding her a friend. Nobody seems to have turtles here, apart from the pet shop. We went to a 'turtle sanctuary' last week. They only had about five big seawater turtles.

as going to link a couple of turtle rescue places that i was aware of but they both seem to have gone.
sometimes big aquatic superstores will have adults for sale but rarely. all of mine have been passed on to me via the RSPCA locally. maybe you could get in touch with your local branch - its coming up to when they start being given in fro rehoming. the RSPCA around here always seem to get lots of them throughout the summer - people dont realise how big they get and how bad they can smell if kept in a small tank indoors.
