The smell of Indorex is the solvent - smells like ether if I remember rightly. It's strong, but not persistent.

Our vet told us that before you Hoover, shut all doors and windows, turn the heating up to full and put some very damp tea towels over the heaters. Something to do with the warm moist air making the fleas move around more and so easier to Hoover up?

Yes heating on can help though it's probably warm enough for them at the mo. It can speed up the hatching of the eggs which in turn helps the sprays be more effective, more than the vacuuming (very few things kill the eggs so hatching them more quickly makes them vulnerable more quickly)

Well, hoovering and spraying done. Upon combing we found and killed a load more, although we're sure there's more.
Frontlined both and now I guess it's Hoover every day for the next few days?
Bex, is it worth spraying the rooms again everytime we Hoover?
Here's hoping it works. If it doesn't I think the next step is to burn the place to the ground (semi serious).

Depends what house spray you used. With Acclaim you shouldn't need to as long as you gave it a day or two to bed in before vacuuming. However it is not going to do boy harm if you want to (except on the pocket!)

Some years seem to be worse than others for bloody fleas. This year we seem to be getting off lightly but others the dogs have been crawling! No idea where they all come from but we bloody hate them.

I am a miner's canary for fleas, the little b ds bite my ankles and I react really badly. We haven't had any problems this year, but we have been more careful than usual with the frontline because one of the cats has developed an allergy to them.

Wah!!! So after all that (I know I can't expect them to all dissappear), just had pheobe asleep on my lap and just watched a flea run across her eye and onto her nose. Managed to grab it and kill it but Jesus, I can't stand these little f kers

Use the flea comb every day. Twice a day... Three times a day if needs be. You can also buy diatemacious earth (sp?) to sprinkle in the coat and the food. And the house.
