As others have said, give a rescue cat a chance, and get a pair if they are kittens.

Waiter/cleaner/servant to 5 rescue cats.

Grrrrrr, why did I start reading this thread?!

Now the proud servant/slave of another Tabby, this time a 12 week old kitten (I said I'd never have a kitten in the house!).

Pick her up next saturday after her final jabs, she is very cute & I now have two very happy kids & a happy OH which makes a nice change! Not so sure the incumbent Tabby & spaniel are going to be quite so happy, the OHs Westie will love its new toy though!

Expect lots of photos to follow over the next few weeks, we only went to CPL to look so BE WARNED!

Got 2 rescue kittens here. Wouldn't be without them. One sleeps on her back between me and the missus.

Strange cat man smile

We tried rehoming a beautiful Bengal from the CPL but as we already had another moggy & a dog it was a big no, Bengals don't do house sharing apparently!
My Bengal is utterly anti-social when it comes to other cats, she sits looking out the window, sees a cat, bolts out the cat flap, stalks it and goes in for the attack with full vocals, other than that she is a lovely, affectionate, friendly wee beastie.

Normally my cat goes in and out of the catflap with the usual clunkety-clunk noise. But when she has seen an 'enemy' cat in the garden she manages to exit silently - to complete the ambush!

Well instead of a cat we adopted twin human beings and now that seems to be going well we are back on the cat trail again, unless a Russian Blue is not good with kids (!) and sheds its fur (My mrs has OCD cleaning issues) I definatly want a Russian Blue.

Where to go? anything to know cat fans .............

This. We've rescused four cats now, much better than paying a breeder.

Our local CPL have a female snow Bengal at the moment, very particular about rehoming that one as you can imagine.

Looking at the RSPCA now, I would prefer a young cat / kitten as our kids are 5 now and I think they would appreciate a young cat more.

Just go to a local cat shelter type place.

You will be selected by the one you are required to have.

I did this and was chosen by a grey and white kitten, wouldn't leave me alone for the whole visit.

I gave in and said i'd have him. At this point it was revealed he had a sister, a black and white kitten.

Couldn't leave her behind could I?

That was 5 years ago, we now have two lovely cats, not a chance in hell that they're related though.

He's huge, grey and white she's tiny, petite and black with the odd white splash.

Different fathers, same mother. Mother cat can give birth to a few male cats offspring at one go.

We have two Bengals and a moggy.

The Bengals have heaps of character and energyu and are genuinley entertaining, the male is pretty big, he can stand on the floor and put his paws on top of the kitchen worksurface. The female is smaller but can jump about 7ft straight up. They are very talkative, the male will fetch sticks and both like water.

The moggy (we adopted him 18 months ago) is a traditional cat - fond of laps, always appears as soon as you get home, does not have the athleticisim of the Bengals.

My daughter volunteers at the local cat rescue centre. That should be your first port of call IMO (I know we got pedigree cats this time, but all of our others have been adopted). If you want something different though, pedigree is probably your only way.

Our Bengals (not allowed to breed from them) were about £550 each, the femal is an F4 which is the closest generation to the wild asian leopard cat that is sensible as a pet. She can display some quite wild traits at times, but is fine with being handled and with the kids and vet.

Does the Pope know this? If so, why hasn't he banned it?

As said, local cat rescue centre followed by taking home the one that chooses YOU smile

No point having a beautiful ornament with a stinking personality. Take the children and let them take part in the process too.
