After many years of working away from home I now have a regular local job. I want a whippet; probably a puppy as we have 2 cats and one of them would be a little weirded out by an adult dog coming into the house. Any advice about finding puppies, what to look for and will it be really really really cute?

Yes, your dog escaping because you hadn't secured your garden properly just happened to coincide with neighbours cat dying of natural causes. rolleyes

I'll tell you another coincidence, there just happens to be another thread running about irresponsible dog owners.
I'm irresponsible because my dog finds a way out of the garden once in the several months she's been with us? I think you're being a tad judgemental.
Yes, because the result of you failure to secure the garden is the needless death of someone else's beloved pet. And you don't even seem overly bothered about it.

How would you feel if you whippet had been ripped apart by the Pit Bull from down the road only to be told by the owner "I'm not irresponsible, had my dog a few months and it's never got out before."

Your attitude stinks. IMHO.

You're entitled to your opinion although as its based on little or no information i won't lose any sleep over it.

To be fair your post did not express anything to suggest you were distressed by the likelihood that your pet had killed someone else's pet. Not a good scenario.

I can't help re where to get one maybe Wilfs owner can do that bug yes they are really really cute.

I think males are a bit more keen to please their owners than a female (I have a male and I don't think I'd have a female) but they still make their own minds up!

Mine is fantastic with our 3 cats. They can be nervy so lots of relaxed confidence building socialising as a pub is ideal.

Jimmy is happy with a 15min sprint around or an all day walk. He never complains smile

Hope you find one
