The best course of action against those who post deliberately provocative messages is to ignore. It annoys them.

This is a great thread, one of my favourites on PH. Looking forward to more pics smile

For what its worth Iklwa, we didnt exactly AIM to bring a dog back to the UK.

Its very easy to type dribble that that over the internet without actually thinking.

However Id like to see what you would do faced with the decision of killing a 5 day old puppy that hadnt even opened its eyes for the first time and you had been awake for 48 hours keeping it alive/bottle feeding, or bringing it home with you and giving it the chance of a decent life.

Doesnt every animal, regardless of country of origin deserve the same level of care and right to a life?

I stay in contact with the charities that helped us bring back our doggies a lot and donate when I can etc.

Just today they have found 6 tiny puppies, probably about 5 weeks old, exactly the same breed as mine, dumped in another cardboard box.

So if anyone is in the market for a puppy, or has room for a rescue needing a home, or even do what we did and have two, please consider rescuing rather than buying.

I can REALLY vouch for the breed (Hellenic hound), they are great, quiet, no chewing, chilled, easy to train etc) and can certainly vouch for the charity.

Look up "Zante strays" on facebook or PM me for more details/any questions smile

There is something super rewarding about saving a dog, must be great saving two!

We have a stray who was found with a broken leg outside my front door. Got her all fixed up then a year later she has a form of meningitis and we are dealing with that currently, so it's not all plain sailing but we are giving her chances she wouldn't have had otherwise.

Insure them upto the hilt!

Updates?

Not quite as dramatic but I "rescued" my dog from a litter, he was the runt, half the size of the others, being bullied, bitten, tormented by the others, the woman offered me one of the others for free but when she saw that my heart melted for the "runt" she charged me £900 for him. The whole line of dogs she breeds with has severe digestion/colitis problems but she still breeds with them for the £££. This is the problem with KCS owners.

He has bad gastric/digestive system and pooed blood for a year or so until eventually I found the right food. We tried everything. Now he is 3 and very loving, more than any other dog I have known and especially for a dog smile

Probably saved my life too as I was obese and didn't even go walking, now he gives me a reason to go to beaches at 6am in the rain!

Glad to hear your enjoying him and sounds like he has a great home smile

out of interest, what reason did the breeder give for wanting double for the runt?

Great tale! We rescued a dog from Spain, paid (lots) to have her delivered here without meeting her and without her meeting our resident GSD. She has turned out fantastically - I've rescued my fair share of dogs but never had one who adores us both so much. Gets on fabulously with Otis too, they're a proper little mini pack and really look out for each other.

OP, you're the log cabin/holiday homes man aren't you? When are you opening?? Would love to book in! [url]

We've had Lola about 2 years now. She's 5 and he's 3 and still very much a puppy at times, but she keeps him in check. They have a great little dynamic going where each of them is top dog for certain things biggrin

If you could PM me details of where to find your booking details that would be great, thanks.

I'll stop de-railing Zoe's thread now smile
