Did someone say something?
Eddie!!!
On an iPad just now. When I am next at a proper keyboard, I'll provide a proper reply (it'll be greyhound biased though).
Cheers,
Eric

OP, if you would like to meet some greyhounds, PM me. I have a good rehoming contact in Cambridge, which is at least the right side of London for you.
230, thanks chap. Let me see what happens with the mutt tomorrow but if that does not work out, Greyhounds are one of the breeds high on my list, although generally, I don't care so much about breeds as the personality but greyhounds do seem like they would suit me very well generally.Got to be said, I didn't know there were so many dog lovers on PH being as I don't really check out the pet forum, but it seems to me really cool that so many here have give homes to rescued animals.
Keep the ideas, links, advice, photos etc coming :-)
Sitting in an office today, bored witless, thinking it would be so much more fun doing this with some dopey dog sleeping or being amusing / annoying here as well... anyone got one that I could borrow for a few hours this afternoon in north London?! :-P
Dont forget, when you home a rescue dog, youve saved 2, the one you take home and the one that takes its place

Update time!
A rescue charity has asked me to foster a 8 year old Alsation bh. Most rubbish looking Alsation ever being as the poor thing is underweight and had some skin issues. Her owner passed away and I think could not really handle the dog well so not a case of wilful neglect. Dog is apparently a lovely thing but hates kennels and is extremely stressed but very good with people etc. She is due to come to mine for a days visit over the weekend and we can take it from there.
I have always loved Alsations and they are one of the breeds I wanted to own but the dog is more important to me than the breed so was not looking for any specific breed.
So excited and I'll keep you all posted of coure

I now know more! Skin problem is due to a flea allergy. She is clear of fleas now and being treated so they said they will bring me some lotion for it and she is fine with people putting it on. Should clear right up. Her coat is in rubbish condition because of that and also as she is mal-nourished.
If all goes well, the rescue home are going to bring her to Chez Pappa (ok, that just sounds so wrong!) over the weekend. I think they are going to hang out with the dog for a while and if the beastie and I get on then she will be staying. She is a foster so I if it all goes horribly wrong the rescue place move her somewhere else. Assuming all goes well, I guess she stays here until she is well and then they find someone to adopt her.
She is not in a terrible condition but Alsations are a very handsome dog and suffice to say, this one is possibly the least handsome dog I have seen in a very long time but she looks and sounds adorable. So fingers crossed please and hopefully the PH pound will soon have another, if probably only temporary, member!
