Adopted a Dumpster Dog
Discussion
Well we did it. We weren't looking for a dog but this chap, James Robert, got dumped at my mother in laws house the other day. They couldn't find anyone to take him - he has horrible mange, so after a long discussion, myself and MrsJDRoest decided to take him. He was out of options. Pound means being put down, and round here they get put down very quickly (24 hours).
Anyway, with some help of friends we've taken this chap on. We believe he is an 18 month old American Bulldog.
He was booked straight to the vets, has demonic mites (or something), has been given shampoo, antibiotics and a mange medication of some sort, he might have heart worms, but they'll get fixed.
Anyway, this is his serious look, he's actually quite friendly, and definitely loves licking.

He looks like an English bull dog cross Staffordshire bull terrier/ pitbull.
Well done and I'm sure he will make a great companion
Biggest problem right now is finding something to keep him occupied whilst I'm working. He ate his chew bone this morning in about 3 minutes, ate a tennis ball yesterday in under a minute, but the leather shoe soul was proving a problem earlier.Well done and I'm sure he will make a great companion
He also doesn't like saws either. Spent so much time worrying about him this morning that I managed to put an air con unit in upside down.
Gonna give him his first bath after lunch (we have a few empty rental houses that have hot water). Wish me luck!

Looks like an EBT/Staffie cross to me as well. Bit small to be an American Bull.
Was it a real tennis ball or one of the rubbish "doggy tennis balls" that pet shops sell. Real good quality (Slazenger, Wilson, etc) last forever as a fetch toy and quite a while as a chew. The doggy ones last my Weim' about 30sec.

Here's JB in the bath earlier. Not looking particularly impressed. Beginning to think that he original owners tried to sort his problem but failed, which is worrying. After his bath he gave me a cuddle!
Anyway, seems to like chewing on plywood. (And yes it was a cheap doggy tennis ball. Won't make that mistake again!)
Compared him to the blue pitbull next door from where I'm working, he is much taller than that chap, but only half the width, and probably a little bit longer. His weight would indicate an American Bulldog once he reaches his proper size in a few months, we think he's still a bit underweight. Considering the speed at which he made himself comfortable on a sofa at work this afternoon, I'd say he was a house dog originally.
