I have an excellent Le Creuset Casserole that would fit in.

It may be an urban myth, but I have heard that offers to re-home a rabbit from peeps you dont know may be to rehome it, but in a casserole dish not a hutch.
So be careful with any strays. BARKS in Banbury are a good rescue centre for all animals , not so up themslves as that bunch of twunts at the RSPCA.

He is doing well, certainly has an appetite! My brother and his partner are going to have him, they went to pick up a large hutch yesterday so will probably be going to their place tomorrow. Although he isnt to keen on being picked up (understandable in unfamiliar surroundings etc) once held he is quite happy to just sit on your lap or in your arms and be stroked, doesnt try to jump off or escape. Shame we cant keep him ourselves but we have enough pets already so wouldnt really be fair.

On the whole bunnies don't like being picked up as they are a prey animal. If he's snuffling around you and hopping on your lap it is fair to say he's happy and rather likes you.

Are you sure it's a he? He is stunning.

Re: litter trained. Mine are 'litter trained' but now and again will leave little nuggets where they feel. If it is in a general area then the likely hood is he'll use a tray. Use a non-clumping litter (in case he eats it) and put a good covering of hay on it.

Hope he enjoys his new home!

He wasnt hovering around as such, more the opposite, he would try and get away but once picked up he would sit quietly on my lap and be stroked without trying to get away, defo a boy rabbit, still has his humping tools! He is at my brothers now in a large hutch, they put a litter tray in his hutch and he used it straight away so guess he may be litter trained, and his good condition suggests he was well looked after before we found him. Shame we couldnt find owners, no replys to ads or calls from local animal shelters which we informed. He will be well looked after were he is, alls well that ends well i guess.

Wonder if the vet would be willing to microchip a bunny - and whether anyone would ever think to scan a lost one?

We can and we do. That's why I mentioned in an earlier post re taking him to a vets to scan. Longshot though as many rabbit owners don't do it.

I suppose people think they won't get out. I've seen more than one lost pet rabbit over the years, though.

Just a little update, my brother took him to the vets for a once over and microchip check (a condition of them having him), he isn't microchipped sadly, but the vets repeated what was said here, definately a pedigree rex and in very good health so obviously well looked after previously and probably a pricey one when bought. Seems happy in new home and feeding well. Had no replys still from ads etc so guess they will be keeping him, alls well that ends well I guess.
