Fine a new home or leave him home alone?

My brother's dog is a bit skittish when he's home alone, but Radio 4 calms him right down - I guess it's the sound of people talking that he likes.

We live in the middle of nowhere- have 2 neighbours and that's it- cheapest we could find a dog walker was £15/hour (more pertinently she was the ONLY dog walker who come out to us).

Day care unfortunately doesn't work either- my wife would have to take on the responsibility (I have a job where i'm frequently either out of the house early, back late, or both), but she is already leaving hom early to drop the baby off- add in dog care and she'd have what should be a 20min commute each way turning into an hour long commute

Maybe she could do that 2 or 3 days a week so he's not home alone every day? I work 3 days a week and my commute is 45-1hr each way. I drop our little one off to nursery, my bonus is I can take our dog to work with me but on those days I walk him when I finish work. I leave the house 7.15am and get home 8-8.30pm. My day would be shorter without child and dog but I wouldn't change through choice, even though it's tough going at times. (Our dog is very sick so I face losing him very very soon)
