Hmmm, you might need to address that, so there's not a problem when they return 'home'. As I said, I've only ever had outside rabbits, so the area to neutralise is more contained. You may have to take advice from the rescue about how to neutralise a larger area. It may not be an issue, I don't know....

Here are our two chaps that we got around 7 years ago now, a rather large lop and a smaller lionhead.
(Excuse the poor pictures, lost all of my older albums!)


As expected he's made a right mess of his living quarters (he's a bit mental and loves throwing things around), a DIY 6ftx3ft hutch built be me, complete with laminate flooring!


This picture was taken last night whilst he was at the vets, unfortunately it'll be the last
On Sunday morning he didn't run to his food as he always has done and we knew he clearly wasn't himself, so we brought him inside to see how he got on but he just sat still in the corner all day. So yesterday morning we took him to the vets, they informed us of some issues and they gave us some options, to operate, which included big bills and a high chance of him not making it through , or to put him to sleep, they recommended the latter would be the least stressful (due to his older age anyway). We left him at the vets whilst we tried to make a decision, by afternoon time we got in contact with them but we were told his condition was far worse and there was only one real option.. It hit a lot harder than expected...

I think I'll just stick to my fish tanks after this!

House completion should be done in 8-12 weeks so should and a pair of rabbits will be first on the list. Those keeping indoors are you keeping in a hutch and pen or one of the smaller cages (like a large hamster cage) and pen

They will me moving outdoors before the autumn so will get a hutch and pen but looking at indoors for a few months.



Sadly fluffy will be staying with my parents and neighbours.

I have an indoor cage, they are available on eBay for around £60 for a two tier one. I bought two and made it three floors. Whenever I am home the door is open and they have free run of the living room. They are fully litter trained!

Not sure if it's of any use, but i'll have a 3 floor indoor cage going cheap soon - i've commissioned a bespoke double level with an extended run... i must be mental.

Our old runny babbit settling into his new indoor home, a new 100cm cage bought online for a bargain £30! He still has his double tier hutch outside and we alternate him between the two, although he much prefers being inside as we leave he cage door open when we're at home so it gives him a chance to do laps around the dining table or jump onto the sofa





We were a bit hesitant on getting an indoor cage at first, but luckily it fits right between the cabinet and the wall, it all gets cleaned out every couple of days and you really wouldn't even notice its there. Wish I'd bought it years ago because it's lovely having him inside!

My house rabbit is a giant lop - her indoor residence is a dog cage designed for supersized dogs, as we couldn't find a hutch big enough for her to stretch out in when she is indoors.

She was properly free range at my last house, but we've moved in with the missus and she has a ratty little terrier thing that is smaller than the rabbit, but has much sharper teeth. Although the rabbit has fronted out the dog a few times, I don't think I would ever trust them alone together.

Most of the time, the rabbits become the "alpha" and boss the dogs about.

Cookie (GSD cross) recently got to meet my rabbits, and quickly learned who's who.
My 2 dogs would do anything for my buns. It's very cute.

Completely understand, we took on a bulldog nearly a year ago now, we've let him have a sniff around the hutch area before but I don't know whether he was looking for a way in or just wanted a play! Either way I couldn't trust him near the rabbit even if I knew his intentions were good, nearly 35kg of clumsy bulldog having a play could do some damage..
