was going to post a topic on my conundrum, but probably best off in here. 2 rabbits or 1?

We have a house rabbit Lola. We rescued her in Jan. Shes about 18 months - 2 years old. black Lop.

She has been fabulous, doesn't chew anything, doesn't poop/wee outside of her litter tray. So much so that she is left out from 7am to 10pm while we are at work etc. Shes not one for being picked up but is a complete attention seeker.

We recently worked out that she is deaf, this has sparked interest at getting her a chum as she is very easily startled.

- So how hard is it to integrate them? Id be upset if they didnt get on and to be honest we dont have room to home them separately on a long term basis. We are planning to borrow a cage as a temporary basis and then have them live in the cage together. Its a 2 rabbit indoor pets @ home thing, and tbh at the moment Lola only spends minimal time locked up.
She just looks so much like our rescue from a few years ago, Lily. She had been a breed rabbit for a local-ish "farm-shop" type experience. We called her "Punky" because her hair stood up in a Mohawk. She mothered Slippy, and he loved it. It was our quickest bonding, just a couple of days, Slippy adored her, but she died of cancer of the womb, she is still much missed, as is our old boy, Slippy.

Betty was 3 when her guinea pig hutch mate died (I know they shouldn't live together now) so I got Mary who was 7 weeks old. Betty took to her straight away, washing and scenting her. They've now been together 11 months and they're inseparable.

Once he has had the chop I think it will be fine. Lola is soooo chilled out that nothing bothers her.

They both just hopped around and ignored each other. He then got a bit randy, she just tried to keep hopping away from him. It was fine for a few minutes until she got bored and pushed him away. That's when we called it a day.

Today shall try again but I think he will be the same until he's sorted.

Am getting bored of running about cleaning up wee!

Gareth tries to mount Terri quite a lot, when Terri has had enough she will turn and give him a bit of a nip, he will jump in the air then they tend to lie down next to each other an relax whilst Terri grooms Gareth.

They still don't live together (despite having joint play time since December) as we've had some hard times as a family so making me a tray isn't top of Dad's priorities right now.

Lola is lovely smile glad she has some bunny to love now smile

Well today wasn't quite so successful. She stayed in her carry case (that I used to get her into the bathroom) and he just went nuts and got overexcited trying to get in.

Ended in a few patches of fur being lost!

Then tried shutting her in and letting him wander about outside her cage. She got a bit upset with him in her spot and tried to go at him through the cage.

Not so promising. Have moved the cages much closer together but thinking it might be best to leave it until he has had his op (next Tuesday) although we feel bad leaving him locked up and she just wanders about!!

We let him out every evening for half an hour or so in the hallway to run about like a mentalist.

Its the females that will get territorial out of the 2 of them, I have been very lucky and Terri isnt but that is what every site I have found told me.

My 2 does are very territorial, thankfully they work together and chase cats out of the. garden when the guineas are in their pen. They're used to the guineas as they've always been around them.

Yup, when he is in his cage, she doesn't care. She will wander up, have a sniff then go on her way without issue. Other way round and she goes nuts. Have started swapping things between cages and letting him out when she is out of the room. Will hopefully let her know she has to share!

Stressful times!

So I bought a metal pen to house my bun's in as their seperate cages were taking up too much space.

Set it up lastnight

they took an intrest

I put them in overnight to see how they got on and was woken at 3am this morning by Gareth jumping up onto my bed!
Terri thinks she is an amatour Houdini and has lifted one of the panels in the night it has got stuck so they have had free access in and out all night.

So tonight I shall try again, with Cable ties to hold the panels more securely!

Can't they just jump over the top?

Good idea putting one end by the heater though!

Nah I have a cover for it too smile

That heater has never been on since I moved in in March. its not a perminent place anyway, just needed to put them somewhere not on the carpet incase they decided to "mark their territory"

Mine spend half their time cleaning themselves and each other. They look clean and their fur doesn't smell and that's good enough for me!
