axgizmo, are you sure that Cinders wasn't just mesmerised by your wacky socks whilst at your parents' place? The look on her little face seems to say "I...just...do...not...BELIEVE...those...socks!"

Seriously, she clearly shares your pain and given time will probably find a favourite spot next to you on the sofa.

Very best wishes to you.

Thankyou for the kind words. I'm not going to lie, I am a bit of a batman fan haha. Specifically the Dark Knight trilogy smile

Remy, Is there a chance you could try at bonding them before committing to keeping them? That would be the best way to go, I don't see why they wouldn't get on but you never know

Dear fellow PH bun lovers I know this isn't normally done but I have to try.

Our local rabbit rescue who are only small (one person and her boyfriend) and who we got Holly from. They're having a bit of financial trouble and could do with some serious help as they have just taken a mother and two lots of litters (15 in all).

If anyone feels they can help in anyway please see the below fb post on their group

https://www.facebook.com/yorkshiresrabbitretreat/p...

Again sorry for doing this but I have a real bond with this rescue centre and have done a lot for them so far. Thanks in advance!

Really sorry, I already donate to 2 charities, I'm afraid I cant.

On Friday I got a call to say I could go and collect Gareth's ashes (wow, it hurt to write that), he is now on top of the table that was always his favourite to sit under.

On a happier note...
I went to Pets @ Home on Bank holiday Monday to pick up some bits for Cinders. Went and had a look at the small animals area and there was this gorgeous little boy with only one eye in one of the adoption cages. I fell a little bin in love instantly, I sat on the floor next to the cage for a while and he sat on the other side of the glass next to me, he would get up occasionally and stand up against the glass and try to sniff my hand through the gaps between the glass.
I went to get a member of staff and asked he about him, turns out he was taking into store by a girl who couldn't afford his vet fees, he had an abscess on his eye which was left untreated & he had mites & infection on his feet from being in a dirty cage. He was treated by P@H and kept in the back for a couple of months whilst he recovered. During this time the previous owner had returned asking for him back. The store refused and were worried she was going to send someone to buy him. This really pulled at my heart strings and I didn't feel I had any choice but to bring him home with me, knowing I could protect him from being in that situation ever again.

So here he is, My little Red:

First bonding session went really well:

He is bonkers, certainly not withdrawn or shy, which is amazing after everything he has apparently been through

Second bonding session also went well, with grooming involved smile Although Cinders does need to learn not to groom where his eye was as he clearly doesn't like that (she is very rough though)

Awwww that pulled on my heart strings! What an amazing thing to do and another bun save from poor owners!

He looks very at home already and very inquisitive!

What a wonderful outcome for your little Red - and I'm sure that Cinders will soon be utterly devoted to him.

If only there were more people as kind as you in this world, axgizmo!

Yayyyyyy. Well done!
It's a disgrace he's lost an eye due to someone else's negligence.
And a 'well done' for pets at home staff to have the sense to keep him away from her biggrin
Good news all round.
Now to find the previous owner and make her live in a stty cage!!

Pets at Home just called me to see how he is doing so I have sent the girl an email with some photo's. Bless her she did seem very chuffed that I was taking him home with me. Now to get his injections done as there is no record of them being done before (they gave me a voucher for it)

The Lord John: I hope Karma catches up with previous owner i'll tell you that for nothing!

Awwwwwww. Makes me happy reading that! Looks like a rabbit from the wild got lost and snuck into a pets at home cage, might explain his lack of shynesshehe

He is adorable, and you can see he's clearly a confident little chap ! Glad the bonding is going well with them both, if his eye has only been operated on in the last few months it's understandable that it may still be tender, but in time i'm sure he'll manage with Cinders' grooming style !

Years ago, the car park at our RAF squadron was inside a secure area. Secure against most things, but it didn't have a 'rabbit proof fence' and the little beggars had fun digging a warren at the back of the car park, despite the comings and goings of cars, people and aeroplanes.

One day I landed after being away for a couple of weeks, put my luggage in the boot and drove home.

As I was putting the car away in my garage, a bunny came scampering out of nowhere. It couldn't have been in the garage for 2 weeks as the door was totally secure. So I can only conclude that it must have found somewhere it liked underneath my Prelude VTEC - fortunately I'd driven home smoothly enough for it to have hung on. It had a brief look around, then raced off into the nearby hedge and I never saw it again. As there are no bunny warrens nearby, I guess the poor little thing had to survive on luck and instinct.

So find myself in the situation where I have 2 rescue rabbits, both micro chipped & registered with different sites.
Red is registered on Pet Log & Cinders is registered on Anibase. It should be easy to put them both one, except I haven't got a microchip certificate for Cinders, i've checked her adoption pack and its not there. With her being the first animal i've ever owned who was micro chipped I wasn't aware I would have such a thing.

Anibase wont let me register without the number off the certificate so I have emailed them but I imagine this will end with me having to pay to get a new certificate then I imagine I will have to pay again to transfer her details to Petlog so they are both in the same place. Has anyone ever had this situation before? Any tips?

I'm about to call Freshfields where I got Cinders from but I don't hold out much hope

Spoke to the rescue I got Cinders from and they wont register her in my name. Apparently this is common practice with rescue rabbits? I'm pretty annoyed about it to be honest but I don't have a clue how I would go about getting her in my name? I am in Chorley & the rescue is in Liverpool, I don't want her going through unneeded stress by being taken to Liverpool then having to come back in the event she did get lost. I also don't like the idea that someone else is responsible for getting my bunny back to me.

New microchip and have it all in your name?
Don't know if that's possible, just a suggestion...

On another topic...

Cinders & Red - The Bonding
It's all gone very well so far. We went from the bathtub, to the bathroom floor, to the bedroom, then to the living room in a canvas run & now they are in their forever home in 13 days. So pleased with them both.

Day 1:

Day 2:

Day 5:

Day 7:

Day 8 - This was an accidental escape into the living room:

Day 12: The First Night together

I put the canvas run they had been in, up to the door of their new home so they could investigate in their own time.

04.10am

04.30am

04.54am - I got woken up by Red throwing his bell toy around

05.42am - Red decides to see how high the fencing is...

05.45am - Cinders wants to know what all the fuss is about

Day 14:

So proud of the little guys and the rabbit cam has been a godsend as I was able to leave their sight but still be able to see them whilst being close enough to break anything up should it kick off.

What happy pictures - thanks for posting them!

Red is behaving as though he had never learned to play before and is clearly very happy with Cinders - as she is with him.

The more I get to know him, the more I think you are right.
I think he was an outdoor bunny just left to his own devices, which is probably why he was so ill when taken into Pets @ Home.

He's always moving the throw out of the way to lie on the hard plastic of the cage (I imagine this is to keep a bit cooler as he is used to being outdoors) & like you say, watching him its like he's doing everything for the first time. Which gives me a really lovely warm feeling inside and makes me realise I did the right thing bringing him home

Ours are house rabbits but started on a play area outside for the boys so they get more space to run about. Also rabbit proofing the garden for when were out here with and can let them run free. Cats are an issue so can't let them have free run when were not out.

Looking good, mine have a run that Dad built when I got Gareth 10 years ago, Used to have supervised free run of the garden before I moved into a flat frown
I live next to a massive field and have a pop up run but wouldn't like to risk them getting out or being stressed out by a dog walker's dog so they only get garden time at my parents house now which is a real shame frown
They are going to the parent this weekend as it happens so they will enjoy that smile

So Red has snuffles. He has always had a wet nose when he has been running around or gets stressed, I asked the vet about it when I took him for his injections and he said to keep an eye on it, so I did and on Friday he had a sneezing fit and ended up with a lovely white bogie on his cheek. I called the vets and booked him in for an appointment last night, the lady I saw was a rabbit owner herself (i'm going to ask for her every time from now on). She checked his lungs for fluid and checked that his tear ducts & ears were healthy looing, apparently one of hers gets it regularly. So he had an antibiotic injection last night, he will have another Friday morning then another Tuesday and hopefully it should clear up
