I got to Thursday and was fed up of the chewing bars at night so put them together then, they have been together ever since, been getting on brilliantly & have been loving having free run.
Yesterday I discovered that Frank has the potential to be a chewer... so they have to be locked in when were out. Such a shame. They have the cage and run but I really don't like having to close them in

Great news! One of ours is a social chewer. I think if something is in her way or somewhere she doesn't like she'll chewy through it! She's chewed through two Iphone cables now. They seem two work as a team the little bu**ers! We have all our cables behind the sofa and the door is held open by a external hard-drive i wasn't using to stop them getting behind the sofa. We saw Charlie get hold of it with this teeth move it and she move it with her nose as the same time and open the door and they're in! Poor little mite - I hope that the operation goes well.
Bunnies really are rather complicated little beings; my lady friend has a dear little male bunny whose bonded other half passed away without warning one night. She didn't find out until the morning; however, he seemed to understand that she'd gone and has been quite happily mooching about on his own ever since.

Really, really sorry to hear.Our Jessica is still going, she is on her third operation (proper, put to sleep sort of job) and two of those have been in the last month.
She is 8, and had a terrible first 5 years with her previous 'owners'. She was in a right state.
Hearing everyones bad luck makes me even more grateful she's still with us.
How do you know when it 'is time'?
Treacs has cataracts, is losing weight (suspected kidney problems), has arthritis and wees everywhere. He isn't the sprightly bun I hold in my memories but when is the time right? He's now on tramadol and I can't tell if it is making any difference. His tail is wet and isn't fluffy anymore.
Coco is a bit better but ageing, she loves him dearly and I don't think she would cope alone as she is such an anxious bun. She can't clean herself properly now and also has arthritis.
Neither of them go outdoors much any more and seem to be bothered by the cold now.
The vet said to give them tramadol and see how it goes. No decision needs to be made urgently and this is what she would do. But when do we know that the time is right? Now and again you see glimmers of the happy buns we love and know. They still love their veg.
We now have a baby too. They are clearly anxious about this crawling menace and I wonder how fair it is on both of them. One that we can't let her crawl everywhere as the pee/poo is such an issue. They used to be so well trained and it wouldn't be an issue if they still were. Her presence makes them nervy now.
Such an awful decision to make. It's a sad household this weekend. Not sure why I'm putting this here but I think I need the collective advice from other bunny lovers.

I didn't even know this part of the PH site existed until just now... This is my rabbit Stewart (stew for short), My girlfriend and I have had him for a little over a year and he was a year old when we adopted him
We have no idea what specific breed he is and neither does our vet, not that it really matters IMO, but any ideas would be appreciated regardless.

I don't usually post here but I'm unable to have rabbits where I live so I enjoy checking into this thread to see all yours.
Stew looks a great chap. My first inkling is that he's a Silver Fox, so I googled it just to check my thinking and it also came up with images for a Silver Marten.
LGF - sorry to hear about your two. I had rabbits throughout my childhood, most of which died before having to make any decisions. The rabbit I had the longest, the originally named Thumper (he did live up to his name!), died when he was 12. He was riddled with lumps but was happy and eating and didn't look in pain, but if he'd shown any signs of distress or wasn't happy I would have taken him to the vets. I think because you're asking says a lot - you know that time is approaching. I would rather make that decision a day too early than a day too late. Best wishes, this is the worst bit about pet ownership.

It sucks massively Claire. I think I know it's time. I'm just not ready to say goodbye.
We no longer have flops and binkies and he's rubbish at telling us he's in pain. The tramadol seems to perk him up a little bit he's still thin and losing his sight.
