brown puss from possible tick?
Discussion
Evening all, I have just removed what I thought was a tick from my dog, only when I removed it it seemed like a scab and left a small hole which had creamy brown puss oozing out of it, I squeezed like a spot and approximately 2 or 3 baked bean size lumps of it oozed out. Any idea what it could be? I will ring vets first thing but as iv just got in from work and its late I thought id try on here to see if anyone has any thoughts?
He is a long haired german/belgian shepard cross approx 2 or 3 years old and a bit overweight, we have not long rehomed him, it doesnt seem to bother him and he is happy for me to look at it, there is another black small lump almost like a small blood blister next to it, it is on his side about 6 inches behind his front leg. My other half thought it was a tick so waited for me to get home to look at it. The stuff coming out of the remaining hole (3mm) is a creamy yellow colour and similar texture to that out of a big zit.

Right breed for them, bit young but creamy discharge classic for sebaceous cyst.
They are usually harmless it's to do with the sebaceous glands at the base of the hairs getting blocked. Sometimes they eventually clear up on their own with the occasional need to do what you've done until they do but they can get infected and bigger. Very occasionally they do need to be surgically removed but I've hardly ever seen this for a sebaceous cyst
The blood blister thing not so sure about. If he is due a vet check soon get them to check both of them out. If he is not due but either of the cyst/ lump seems to be getting bigger get them ck'd anyway.
This is not a diagnosis but an educated guess

Thanks bexvn for your advice. He was given a check over at vets on tuesday as we have not long had him and just registered him, nothing was picked up but seeing as hes quite large and long haired its probably quite easy to miss. Il see how it goes for a day or two then as its not bothering him and doesnt appear to be sore, no blood etc
