Pedigree catnapping
Discussion
How big a problem is it?
Our two resuce cats must be about 16/17 years old now and when they go I'd like to replace them with a russian blue and a bengal.
Thing is, although I don't live in a scummy area, it's also not a huge mansion set in 40 acres of grounds, so should I be worried if I did get them, as round here they would stick out as much as a real tiger!

Depends where you are.
Theft of pedigree animals is quite a problem in Surrey. They either get stolen outright, or the thieves wait for the reward notices to be posted and then claim the money, £500 being the going rate.
Without wishing to slur any particular ethnic group, these incidents tend to occur around Derby Day.
