Terrible day today, woke up and went into lounge to let my old girl out and she had died during the night,
Just wished I could of been there with her when she went,
"Rosie" was 23yrs and just kept going and going, she was a bag of bones though but ate like a horse, looking back the last 2 weeks she had aged much more and spent more time sleeping, she took the decision out of our hands bless her when the time came, she was just sleeping stretched out on the floor like she always did.
RIP rosie you were a very very very special cat and shall not forget how you used to gently tap my face with your paw when you wanted attention or how you would sit next to me when I was eating cereal and pull the dish down with your paw so you could get some milk.
Loves you soo much, run free catching the butterflies. Xxxxx

frown Very sorry to hear that. She clearly had a good life with you.

I have a 22 year old bag o bones asleep on my lap now and every day I wake up with her miaowing at me demanding food and fuss I count as a blessing.

A very long life and a peaceful end with no suffering or veterinary traumas. Pretty good I'd say; well done to both of you smile

Two years ago tomorrow I came home from work to find my dearly beloved poorly cat passed away on my living room floor.
Your thread has reduced me to tears. It still hurts....

Thanks guys for your replies, every morning when i opened the door and she was sitting on the sofa letting out a howling mew was a bonus,
I was late getting up this morning and went down stairs at 7.45 instead of 6, just beats me up to think I could of been with her before she went if I had gone down earlier.

Don't beat yourself up about it, please. We lost Suki our house rabbit last summer (good grief, is it really that long ago) she died while we were out shopping, judging by her body, probably only about five minutes before we got back.

Be thankful she had a long and happy time with you, and you with her.

We only kind of borrow them, anyway.

I'm sorry for your loss. She went in her sleep and that's as much as anyone could hope for, you must have been a great owner to have her that long.

I once met a cat that was 25 years old, a tiny, delicate, but dignified tabby duchess she was. I don't know how much further she went, but it was an eye opener and always a tribute to the owner.

frown. So sorry. Such an amazing age but it's still never long enough. You must have so many memories that you will remember in time with smiles rather than tears.
