This appeared on our Scotties chin a few days ago.

It's a bit hard and red, here's a pic with and without flash.

She's absolutely fine, eating and drinking and playing like normal.

Is it worth a vet visit or should we see how it goes??

How old is she?

It may be a tick reaction, if it is it should disappear or at least improve over next few days.

There are a couple of other possible that may need a vet ck esp if it doesn't improve or starts to look worse.

She has just turned 2. Is it best to leave it for a few days and then goto the vet if no improvement??

Is it a bit like a 'powdery scab'? Could be mites.

Ok, she's a bit old for a benign lump I was thinking of though not impossible (histiocytoma)

I think see how it is looking by mid week if no change take for a check or sooner if gets more sorelooking.

You could give it a gentle bathe with salt water but don't rub it too hard in case it aggravates it.

Took Daisy to the vets yesterday and they've said it's a histiocytoma.

Basically a tumour but it shouldn't cause any further issues, they said it should just drop off or disappear again.

That's what I was hoping! They usually shrink away, did they give you any steroid cream for it?

They can take a while to go but check it doesn't keep getting bigger, every now and again surgical intervention is needed.

No he said he wouldn't worry putting anything on it as it looks to be in advanced stages anyway, said it should be cleared up again shortly. smile

We're keeping a close eye on it, he handily shaved the area around it a bit so we can see it better.
