A girl I know from the gym got a maltease cross stzu and she didn't get much change from a grand! I was shocked that someone would pay that much for a cross! They're being sold as designer dogs rather than mongrels.
There's some fun to be had crossing a stzu with other breeds (only on paper, obviously).

stzu + Poodle = stPoo

stzu + Lurcher = stLur

Jack Russel + stzu = Jackst

hehe

You've missed out the best one of all!

Bull terrier x shih tzu = Bullst (we have one on our books ex Battersea dog and gorgeous frown)

That is precisely my point.

People are paying huge sums for mongrels.........
I've never paid for a dog in my life, and never had anything but mongrels. I've often found people are happy to give 'em away (but perhaps that's just the circles I move in wink

About 30 years ago I got one from Calne in Wiltshire, which I used to refer to as "pedigree Coleman's Farm estate." A bit of lab and a bit of doberman in there somewhere, but too short to be mistaken for either. But I swear there were a couple of dozen other dogs roaming that estate who looked exactly like him. Somebody had been randy over the years smile

Out of interest we sent off for a DNA test to establish breeds.

Results

Grand parents
Shetland sheepdog & Westie
French bulldog & Mixed breed

Parents
Westie/Sheltie x
French Buldog/Mixed breed x

Also found in the "Mixed breed"
19.77% Norwegian Elk Hound
2.55% Labrador Retriever
1.59% Australian Shepherd
0.97% Bearded Collie
0.96% Tibetan Terrier

Interesting thing is these breeds were never suspected (apart from one friend that thought she saw some collie in him) But When you look at him the traits of bulldog (bandy back legs) Sheepdog (Coat and white flash's and snout) westie (short legs) can all be idenitified,

How much was the DNA Test? Did you use a blood or hair sample or something else?

This is the thing, looks like the price has gone up though we paid £40.

They send a couple of swabs to take saliva, which you post back and then email you quite a comprehensive report a few weeks later

Just a bit of fun really but I was impressed with the info provided.
