I was out in the garden yesterday watching the bees and butterflies when i noticed a bee that looked different from the others, more gingery and no yellow stripe. I took some photos and it seems it's a Tree Bee, a relative newcomer to this country and not that common! Anyone else got them? Always nice to see something new.

They'll probably say it's a Spanish bee that carries rabies and is wiping out the native bee population...

I think we may have these, there seems to be a couple living in one of our sheds.

Nice spot. Most people don't seem to know when they're looking at a bumblebee, honeybee or wasp so spotting that is a fine effort.

I've seen one in this country yet but it's a nice looking thing so will keep my eyes peeled.

There must have been a hundred bees on the lavender in the garden and, like most people, i never really looked at them, i assumed they were probably all the same. I think I counted 5 different species in minutes. Seems it's a welcome bee and a good pollinator which is good news.

We have these as well, along with 3/4 other types I've seen which includes a very small mostly/all black Bee which could have been a small juvenile of another type.

Also treated a Wasps nest in our garden to ciggie smoke and a resulting small bush fire the other week and washed the remains out with the hose to prevent further burning!

Yes it's a bombus hypnorum - they have become pretty common down south in the last five years or so. They like nesting in blue-tit boxes - we've had two colonies in the garden this year.
