Yesterday we had a great trip out on Rutland Water watching the ospreys.
Beforehand I visited the RSPB website to read up on these birds.
http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/o/o...
The site states that ospreys are a of a size "between a pigeon and a mallard." I had been thinking they were bigger. The naturalists at Rutland water explained the colour, character and size of the ospreys before we sailed, a wingspan of 5 feet was mentioned.
They were right! Huge magnificent creatures.
So the RSPB website is wrong and further viewing of it revealed that most birds are sized wrongly. We contacted them and received an auto response with no indication that anyone there would do anything.
Good facts here.

Seem like the good people at BTO know their facts.
One last boat tour of Rutland Water on 24th August for anyone interested.
