where the heeler nickname comes from

One of the local farmers breeds Huntaways, another antipodean "cattle" dog. One of their traits is that they bark while working - so we can tell when he is around!

A friend/boss got a new collie in the mid 80s (the other ate some poison but we never found where it was). I went to get the cows in one evening, just as the new pup was getting interested in work. The old cows were well used to the old dog (who would fetch the handy ones and ignore the rest), so were making their own slow progress. Then one of the slowest ones came through the herd at (relatively) high speed. I then saw a black bundle of fur swinging on her tail! The new dog had different methods - and getting the cows was a much quicker job!

There's a terrier across the road (57 varieties, though I think the main one is Patterdale Terrier) that has an almost white face and a brown/tan body. She isn't very old (six or eight at a guess) but looks much older than our "old dear".

I have four dogs. They all want to be in during the night (generally, one will have the odd night in the garden). Two of them like to spend a few hours a day in the garden as well but two want to be in the house all the time unless going for walkies or a toilet break in the garden.

The ones usually in the garden will "knock" on the door around 9pm to come in for bed.
Thank you - my little girl is now holding her bladder well in the utility, so now we're going to increase her living area to our rather large hall way - hopefully she'll be ok with the hallway over the next couple of weeks.

If she proves she is ok there, then we'll start to bring her into the living room for when we're home.

I've not got a pic to hand but our Staffy likes to lay on the back of the sofa & put her head on my shoulder. Then she normally goes to sleep, she don't half have a heavy head after an hour or so hehe
Like this smile

It's not his head that's the problem he has a habit if jumping down using me. Which gets painful

Sounds familiar too, look daddy your a just like a climbing frame hehe

That's not surprising.

If the headbutts I've had from mine are anything to go by, Staffy's heads are filled with concrete.
I think you're right, but then the whole dog seems the same. I get the feeling I could park a car on her & she wouldn't notice some days.

Found a pic of how it always starts off now I'm home.

Excellent looking dog there.

People on facebook keep putting up silly posters that say a home isn't a home without a dog.

I think they are right.

3 things...

1) Apart from the areas mentioned I still have the rest out of bounds !
2) It is not important to me whether you're convinced or not !
3) I'm not sure how one could possibly convince someone on the internet whether they have a pooch or not !

If only there was some well established PH test for proving the validity of a poster's claim.

You've got no credibility as a trainer or an owner in this thread, you do have a chance to redeem yourself for the latter, assuming that one day someone can come up with some means of proving your photo is genuine.

Let me guess - you don't care. You can't stop coming back though can you?

I'm back home on Saturday - I'll post a picture up so that you can all sleep at night.

This forum is very clique with it's hand full of posters - I prefer the GSD Forum so will stick to that going forward.

The thread has certainly taken a turn to the 'pathetic' that's for sure.

Custard ffs.... rolleyes

Edit: Then again, it does rather illustrate my original point - 'Dog People' are a weird bunch.

I'm yet to meet anyone who isn't "weird" pet or no pet. We all have our quirks.
