These photos have made me chuckle out loud, absolutely fantastic looking dogs bhe English and the wee Frenchie. The wife might need convincing though....

We've never taken them swimming as such but they love running in and out the sea up to their shoulders. One occassion Ralph did chase my parents Lab into the sea and ended up a tad out of his depth and he quite happily paddled his way back without much fuss.
I'd love to take them to those special dog hydrotherapy pools for a swim but I'd imagine they're not cheap.

They are just fantastic dogs and family members and such a great breed. I can't see us ever going for a different breed now other than possibly a Frenchie but that's more from the Mrs than me. Even down the local pub they are both superstars and everyone makes a fuss of them when I stop off for a pint after walking them!

Brilliant thread, I've always had a soft spot for Bulldogs; they just have the most fantastic character and faces.

My Pug passed a couple of weeks ago and for years we have always said we would love a Bulldog, maybe this is the ideal opportunity to look into one, they aren't cheap though.

Bosley aged 8 weeks - first time outdoors

Showing an early propensity for rest, having rolled off the cushion in his sleep.

Bosley doing his favourite thing: "pumping" a soft toy, he goes in to a total trance, like he's suckling. Maybe to do with being orphaned (his mother died when he was a day old).

Bosley enjoying snow

Bosley sitting like a little person

Finally Bosley now, aged 9 1/2, getting very old and slow, having just lost his family jewels to cancer.

So sad to say that my boss had to let Georgie boy go a couple 5 weeks ago. Just 5 weeks after his major surgery the cancer came back with a vengeance frown. They had no choice but to say goodbye to him. They had thought surgery would give him a few more months, not the weeks he had in the end.

Rip George, a true character.

This is my best buddie George! Absolutely hilarious guy who wouldn't harm a fly even though he is a big chunk of a boy.
Really great nature and is amazing with kids, even have the neighbours kids chapping the door asking if he can come out to play.

This was back when he was just a pup

To show how good he is here's him with my little cousin when she was about 2or 3

Still best friends 2 years later!

Hates going for walks but once we get him out the street and he knows there's no going back he's fine
Here's a collection of pics we have of him over the years
Half dog half chicken:

Half dog half slug lol

His fav past time!

Absolutely love him to bits, sounds stupid but he really is a human trapped in a dogs body!
Would put a mountain gorilla to shame in the snoring stakes to.

Thanks, I'm not sure exactly I wasn't there last time he was weighed, I'd say about 30 kg although he is on a diet now.

He is a handsome boy, though I am glad to see you say he is on a diet. I wouldn't have said anything had you not written anything but I did think he was looking a little heavy. Hard breed to keep slim, we were constantly monitoring George's (our boss got us nurses to keep ck on him!) weight he'd gain it so easily!!

More Pics of George!!! Seriously My Son is pretty keen on a Bulldog. Unfortunately he's 22 going on 12 and planning on living with Uni mates next year for his last year at University. Hence I'd end up looking after it. As we are out 9 til 4 minimum I am not willing to have a dog under those circumstances. As well as which the three legged wonder might not take so kindly to sharing "her" bed with a doggy.

That surprises me. Tank is about 33 and looks smaller. They are difficult to keep trim. Tank now goes to work with the Mrs each day (she has a stables business) and he loves it. The problem is, he has no fear of horses...hopefully he'll learn the painfree way!

George's ideal wt was 26-27kg. We see a lot of bulldogs the majority don't need to be over 30kg but breed lines create different builds.

I wonder if anyone can help me. The wife and I have been looking for a bulldog for months but aren't keen on just finding one on the net without a recommendation or referral. Can anyone here point me in the right direction???

http://www.bulldogbreedcouncil.co.uk/contact.html

This is probably a good place to start looking.

There is also a Bulldog rescue charity.
