Such great pics, REAL characters! I have a couple of questions for English Bulldog owners / lovers, would really appreciate any info!

So can anyone tell me honestly what it's like owning one? Imagine you didn't yet love the dog, would he be a good 'housemate' or an absolute nightmare? What if you never really loved the dog, e.g. the spouse of a bulldog lover!, would the presence of the english bulldog in your home be a real nightmare to put up with even if you didn't have to do the cleaning / maintenance / etc?

Thanks for any advice, would be great to hear from real experiences with them.
Let me share my experience, he was our first dog and we got him at 6 months old..

He's an Olde English Bulldogge: essentially leaner, stronger and more agile than a pure English Bulldog, but generally still has the same personality.

After already having an owner that gave up / got bored / couldn't be bothered - we decided to take him, to be fully honest he was a menace! Let's not dwell on his negatives at this point as they were due to his previous owner, a year later and after lots, and lots, and lotsss of training he fits in with our lifestyle and home perfectly. He is very well mannered but will still push his luck when the opportunity arises, quite amusing really as he knows full well when he's done something wrong and his face shows it. He loves nothing more than to spend time with us, he'll follow me out of the living room, into the kitchen, escort me back in and then lie next to the sofa where I'm sitting. However he's just as happy to lie in his bed chewing a bone, so in answer to your question, superb housemate!

The other day he dropped his bone at my feet, I assume it had something to do with the packet of popcorn I was eating and he wanted to trade, amusing lovable personality! When he has a late night, (9pm onwards...) he often falls asleep sitting up and then wakes up as he collapses onto the floor. They're laid back, slobbery and lazy, but love to show affection all the time - I can't see myself getting anything other than a "bull breed" in the future, their personality is just one of a kind.

And some pictures to show how he's progressing, he is now 1 year and 9 months, weighing around 36kg
