Disinfectant ( urine off is fantastic)
Lots of patience
( we didn't want him having to wee in his crate so set alarm for every 3 hours and took him out. Think this helped house train him as we only had a few accidents) all night is too long for a puppy to hold it.

Our Irish slept all the way through from his first night - not a peep. Now he's grown up though he's a little devil for going out - just to see what's happening outside half the time - or bowels on other occasions.Disinfectant ( urine off is fantastic)

Our latest will be here in two weeks - lets see what happens with him. Saw him for the first time yesterday.

Its an English Pointer, already has its KC name which is Pure Gold.
Great choice and getting rare I believe as not a prefered breed for working. Would be well up on my list if I was looking for another dog.For the original Q... Lots of time.
Have a good read about crate training. If your dog takes to it, it's great but they don't all. My Weim destroyed the door on his crate (pulled it inside) and hated it in the end before he injured him self.
...and where's the pictures?

Brush up on your negotiation skills Mind you, all it will do is sit and gawp at birds, I wouldn't worry about getting anything for it
Lovely dogs are pointers and I always wondered why they aren't used so much in the field. The German ones are but not the English ones.
Good luck and I am sure, as do most puppies, bring you smiles, winces and moments of wonderment.

Deposit paid and we are picking him up this coming weekend. Vet bed, home and car crates on order, we also have food bowls, travel bowls and a few simple toys. Also got a keep it simple puppy care book from pets at home which seems really good and the kids are reading it to.
Can I suggest that you send some vet bed to the breeder to put in with the mother, then you take that with you when you collect the puppy - something that smells of his littermates/mother...Jasandjules said:

Or a sturdy soft toy - that's what we left. But the bed sounds better. It would be unique to the puppy whereas there is a risk our older dog will run off with a toy once its back home.Gassing Station | All Creatures Great & Small | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
