He has a happy face, in contrast, Daisy is looking more and more pissed off every day (she's in season soon)

First post in this part of the forum for me, we now have a dog as part of the family!

We spent a lot of time researching which breed would be best for our lifestyle as we also have two young children (3 & 1) after much time, we decided on a Bernese Mountain dog.

Finding a breeder was difficult as there don't seem to be too many, and those there are have substantial waiting lists. We were lucky to find a breeder who had been holding two bhes back trying to decide which they wanted to keep (as unfortunately the Dam had to have a hysterectomy when giving birth.)
They finally decided and we had called at the right time to get the other!

Meet Layla! She's 13 weeks now and 13kg already! The mum is 47kg and from the length of her tail and legs Layla may grow to be a bit bigger than that.

I've been amazed at how good she is, the breeder has done a lot of good work with her. She's fitted right in already!

Any other BMD owners on here?

Ha!

We had to bring her back from Sheffield to Oxfordshire and made a pitstop at some M1 services, she's not had her second vaccination yet so can't go out so when we stopped we opened the boot so the wife could sit with her whilst she was tethered up. It took us 30 mins to be able to leave as so many people were fussing her!

Carla update smile

I love being pee'd over at 8am !!
The Wife and I both went in for Carlas pre-op assessment. Carla doesn't like ladies and especially lady vets ! I got covered in Carlas best !! rolleyes

As soon as I asked 'Mrs DTG' to leave the room, Carla calmed down and I could show the nurse what the teat problem was.

All booked in and we left the surgery. I did say to the staff 'Good luck', with a smirk and a knowing nod !

We arrived to pick her up at 4pm....... It took them 25 mins to find someone brave enough to put her collar on.

Unfortunately, no-one could get near her to clean her up ...laugh.... so we did that at home smile

She is doing really well,(despite missing bits and a tit) and is sitting at my feet as I type..

Special chicken dinner tonight now that she is up and about lick

I grew up with a BMD x Collie. Brilliant dog with kids in my experience & I'd love another.
