Move the dog to safer higher ground NOW!

If that shirt button under stress in the background fails then the dog is in the direct line of fire!

I'll put a spoiler tag on this one as its a little bloody. Unfortunately we were attacked by 2 guard dogs when some idiot opened a gate and released them as me and my own leashed dog happened to be passing. A couple of vet bills and one sad dog later, here we are. Could have been worse I suppose but I was absolutely fuming with it all as it was beyond careless by the person involved. Who was working for a huge golf club at the time. I'll deal with this all in time, once I let the anger subside a bit more laugh

One thing I will say - yet again the vets out here (Portugal) have impressed me with their general attitude, level of service and prices charged!! Since it happened on a Sunday and I'm a lot further away from my usual house than normal, I took her to a vet in Faro.

The total bill was just under 200 euros - that was with the dog being kept in overnight, sedated, operated on which included removing some infected tissue etc, and stitching some of it up internally. Because of the infection its been kept as an open wound with the 2 drains in it for now. That bill also included some tablets. I had to pick some others up along with some sterile cleaning stuff from the human chemist... that added about another 20 euros. We're not done yet as she'll need to go back but a checkup in 5 days is included in what I've already paid, and anything else after that I'll pay separately.

I've had, and hear about, some pretty horrific experiences with basically any kind of service you can order out here. Portuguese really are a nightmare with doing what they say they will, or doing it even remotely on the promised time scale. Thankfully the vets and their nursing staff all seem to be on a different level altogether smile

Its not a good week for her! I'm at a different vets right now sorting a passport for her little buddy I've been fostering. So he leaves tomorrow for UK, and they've been inseparable in the 6 weeks or so I've had them together.

I suspect she isn't going to be happy he's gone, but realistically I'm glad he's going tomorrow. Trying to keep 3 dogs when one needs keeping separate from the others is just a nightmare, I don't really have the space to do it and my kitchen is the only safe/suitable place to contain a dog with an open wound.

I was meant to be picking up a different foster dog tomorrow :

Thats cancelled now, I've no idea whats going to happen with her. I was meant to have her a month until she left for the UK also.

Nah, dog on dog attacks wouldn't even have the police arriving. Far better to just deal with it via the golf club and complaining about it. Its not going to be ideal for them PR wise if it was known a guest and his pet was attacked by their own guard dogs. I'm going to push for the dogs to be removed completely as I'm not happy with them being there.
