And idiot of the day goes to....The woman lead walking her Alaskan Malamute on the pavement, no shade next to a busy road at 1pm today when temperatures were 26/27 degrees, pity I was driving and couldn't safely pull over.
Saw several dogs on my journey home (1 whippet, 3 jrt's and 1 french bulldog!) Bizarrely the only one not panting like a good'un was the French Bulldog!

Took both Barry and Daisy out last night up to the Downs at around 9:00pm, so whilst not cold it was definately cooler than during the afternoon and there was no direct sunlight; there is a section that is about 1 mile round, Daisy was wrecked by about halfway through; panting, heavy breathing etc.It does worry me and you get funny looks from other walkers, I had water on me but she wasn't interested, a few times she stopped and flopped in the long grass but she soldiered on, as soon as we got home, she headed straight to her water bowl, gulped down loads of water, layed out on the cold kitchen floor for a while to cool down and then she was back to her normal self.
It is odd as this year Daisy is struggling much more with the heat and humidity than she did last year, she does make it worse for herself by pulling on the extendable lead though!
The wife is a memeber of a FB French Bulldog group, the day that we had that awful hot weather; Tuesday I think, a member's dog walker came to get her dog as normal for the daily walk; the dog died of heat exhaustion

I would go as far to say we see more dogs in distress through walking a bad times of day etc than from being in cars.
Last night was the first time that my two had been out for a couple of days, even though we have a large garden and they play, I sensed cabin fever as they were both being more annoying than usual; the wife was out, I was bored and it didn't seem too hot so I thought I'd get them both out for an hour or so and I kind of feel like a bad owner if they haven't at least had a daily walk; no matter how small.
I'll pop over to my stepmums tonight with them, she's only two roads away, it gets them out of the house for a change of scenery and she spoils them.
