Is Mrs R very small or is PJ just huge.
Mrs R is 5ft 6 inches in her socks, I am 6ft in mine (and hers) so it's fair to say PJ is a big lad He is actually an awesome lump of a dog but so soft and gentle, but still very confident. I have had Danes and GSDs for the past 16 years or so and they are a great combination of brains and brawn.... and droool
Never been inclined to get into showing or breeding tho.

Tbh I don't blame you re: either!! just wondered as he is a beaut and what they'd think of him in a show ring
His breeder showed Danes and when I was doing my "research" about who to buy from I did go so some of the shows to see her dogs, specifically PJ's dad, and I thought he was also an awesome beast. But, he never actually won anything with the prizes always going to dogs which were still lovely but were a bit finer and more standard looking. So, I guess if I showed him he would get all the plaudits from the "crowd" for looking mega awesome but nothing from the judges. renmure said:

How much does he weigh?
He is about 88kg and is on a barf type diet of raw beef, tripe, chicken wings and chicken carcasses, same diet as the GSD but a bit larger portions. This is him at 8 weeks. I always suspected he would grow into them paws (sorry for the PJ hijack.. normal service can be resumed)

PJ has to be one of the well built Danes I have ever seen! (almost mastiff like, don't worry I'm not saying he actually has any mastiff in him of course!!!) Amazing looking lad. Have you ever showed him?
Great Danes were bred from Mastiffs so should be somemastiff in him.

All of my Dogs have been companions and my dearly separted Bullmastiff has left a huge gap in my life because he was such a huge character but every inch a gentleman.

Put a sofa and a dogs bed in a room, then sit on the sofa. Get somebody to release the hound, bonus points if their name is Smithers.
If the dog sits on the dogs bed no Mastiff DNA is present.
If the dog climbs all over you and the sofa and tries to sleep on your lap crushing you half to death in the mistaken belief they're a lap dog then Mastiff DNA is present.
This test is proven to detect traces of Mastiff DNA down to 0.003%
Some of the above may not be strictly true

Easy way to find out if any dog has even the smallest amount of Mastiff in their DNA...
