This is my boy Wilson. A Dobe/Vizsla x if anyone's interested.
Looks on alert there! Do you need the Halti to control him?

His straight front leg stance is very Hungarian Vizsla, Google them to see.The Halti, or now the Canni Collar we use is essential yes, he is very strong; I can just about manage him without, but the girlfriend would have no chance. Mum has barred my (elderly/ 71yo) dad from walking him as she's convinced he'd have him over!

Completely understand where you are coming from. Sadly I had to let my other dog go as even with a Halti she pulled me over!

Before Wilson I had a Dobe/Dane x called Henry, 9.5 stone of muscle, who did have me over on more than one occasion. The last time he did so was in front of two 9/10 lasses, who found a donkey sized dog pulling a man along by his ar5e v amusing, I could have killed him!!

Edit: This - http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/dogs_trust_snetterton_... - was Henry, renamed from Silk. Lost him nearly two years ago, he had incurable spinal disease. I cried like a baby weeping

What breed was the one you had to let go fatboy?

You know what, seeing such articles, photos, etc does still bring a lump to my throat. Mum summed it up beautifully the other day when we were talking about losing pets. She said you have two main responsibilities owning a dog. Firstly to make sure they have a nice life, and secondly to ensure they have a nice death. A little black admittedly, but it's so true.

I have a Shar-Pei crossed with a Mastiff. She's about 38kg and is absolutely solid, so with the strength of a Mastiff and the stubbornness of a Shar-Pei we have to use a harness for her. She has the same stance as Wilson!

Your dog is awesome love those sort of dogs (first dog was a boxer)

The only thing with Ralph is that photo is him at 6 months, he is now 40kg at 12 months, so looking around 50kg fully grown, so to heavy for a true APBT

He does look pretty Wilson I admit! He's a Blue Cross rescue, and this was their judgement, maybe we need him DNA testing sometime?!

Hi,

Ralph was a rescue to, I originally went to a APBT website and they just said he's to heavy etc, after this I just went to Reddit ID My Dog and a couple of users said he was a stunning Pit and some of them are way heavier than the Breed Standards.

I have heard before that DNA for Pits is very difficult (if not impossible) because of the breeds that make/made them originally.

I searched like a nutter to see if I could identify him and these pics made me say he has to be.

The first pic is a Bandogge which tradtionally is a Neapolitan mastiff x Pit

Then I spotted these OFRN (Original Family Red Nose)

I can see what you mean, I can see Wilson in him. This said though I'm convinced that Wilson is more Vizsla orange than the nearer brown dogs in these pics. I'll see if I can upload a few other pics so you can see what I mean.

I would assume it's the light, cause this is Ralph as well

It could be possible that they are different breeds just twinsies.

Think this one shows his colour pretty well.

Edit - not quite sure why the pic has ended up in landscape when it was saved in portrait on the lappy!

I see what you mean, it's always a difficult one with mixes (or uncommon dogs)

To be honest, if people ask me what Ralph is I say Visla x Boxer x Staff, cause it's better than having a Daily Mail reader (sheep) telling me my dog is dangerous and should be killed.

How much does your dog weigh?

Yep, it's nonsense. Every decade has a different breed vilified. In the noughties it was Staffs, the nineties it was Rotts, and before then it was GSD's and Dobes.

Dad is convinced he has Staff in him, not convinced as I'd say he'd be smaller if so. Maybe he is a three way, maybe one day I'll DNA him.

I think your Dad's right just chose the wrong terrier, Pits have pretty distintive looks that breed with anything always retain certain looks

Like this funny Dachshund x but look at the nose, eyes and jaw for that matter nearly all of the head
