Break the sleeping downstairs with her asap tbh. She will get used to it very quickly. Take out very late and then very early (ie midnight/1am, then 4/5am) for few nights.

Going to enjoy the pics of her as she grows!! (that means we expect you to post lots of pics on this thread of her smile )
Cheers.
Not going to enjoy this laugh

I'll try to remember lots of pics biggrin

And this! Ignore the whimpering and she'll be a better dog for it.

Daisy watching us through the hall window whilst we are in the garden with the Guinea Pigs; she isn't allowed in the garden when the Guinea Pigs are being cuddled.

Tried this last night and failed horrendously.
Put her in the kitchen, thought we made it dog proof too. She managed to knock stuff off the side I didn't even know she could reach..... Basically looked like we were robbed.
She also holwed non stop for nearly 2hrs before I went downstairs as I thought one of the neighbours were banging on the window boxedin
Soon as I slept on the sofa she passed out until she needed her morning toilet and been a delight since.

I've read about locking her in the kitchen for a minute or so and treating her when she doesn't make a noise, then increase the time period until we can do overnight without too much fuss?

Edit: Other idea I've had is get a dog crate, have her upstairs the next couple of nights so she gets used to it then try moving it back downstairs and hope she doesn't cry too much?

When our pup howled her head off when she was little when she was put in her crate, we sat in the other room with the door open (she could still see us) and we used to talk to her and re assure her. It worked, and she started howling for less and less time until we told her bed time, as we always did, and off she went with no drama. She's 8 months old, and we haven't needed to put her in her cage for a month or so now. No dramas whatsoever.

the crate is supposed to offer them safety and security and helps with toilet training too - the proviso being they won't foul where they sleep.....

good luck....

A crate is a fantastic idea for bed time as it means you can also take them away with you when staying at friends or hotels etc without worrying what they'll do.
