Not my dog, but was reading about a very touching send off that took place down in Cornwall, at Porth beach where we have taken ours on holiday. Basicly Walnut, a very old chap coming to his last days was having his very last walk on the beach, a place he had been to every day for something like 14 years, a request was made for others to join him on his last walk, and frankly the turnout looked amazing, I just found it very moving that so many made the effort, not just pet's eh.
Such a brave and sad story for both, you can see they looked after each other to the end.I don't think the owner was looking for any response of the magnetude that came his way good or bad. But good on him for doing his best.RIP Walnut.
This has to be one of the best threads on PH (apart from the sad losses). Conan - love your dog's headstand in the snow - hunting perhaps?
As we all know, dogs are good at kipping. Our two are decidedly unimpressed with the latest series of MasterChef; however the iPad makes for a handy pillow it seems!

I love the mental image of them falling asleep to the irritating preaching of Greg Whatsisface!Angus:

Major, an RSPCA rescue. We've had him 18 months.
He's braving Red Tarn on Helvellyn in October, rather him than me.
My three dearly departed friends. The Black GSD Izzy was from the Dogs Trust way back in 2000. After visiting for a while I found this incredible looking Dog a German Shepherd called MAJOR he was magnificent and huge.
When I told my wife about him she was concerned about his size but agreed to look at him so off we went to the Dogs Trust. When we got to the office their was a couple in front of us and I couldn't believe what they said
"we have come to see MAJOR" I couldn't believe it and so we went to look at IZZY who was slim and young and scared but she came to us and stayed with us for 10 years.
I firmly believe Rescue Dogs find their new owners for a reason and I am sure he will be a fantastically loyal friend for many years.
