^^^ My dad had an open fire, Daisy loved it and would lie so close she would get absolutely roasting.

One Christmas we were round there and a relative came to find me; he tried to move her as he was concerned about the heat, however she growled at him, I moved her and she was boiling, there was no guard so she would lie on the hearth as close as possible.
My grandfather had a Staffy who would lie in the hearth and sparks from the open fire would singe her fur without her moving a muscle.

'The dog's burning again' was a fairly commonly heard phrase.

Some dogs just don't appear to have any conception that they're about to reach the point of ignition. Our old black mongrel would reach the point that one side was too hot to touch.

Misty sits in front of our one at home whenever it's left unguarded by the cat (which singes it's whiskers on it). She'll do it for 15 minutes before walking into the next room panting.

I opened the airing cupboard to put the heating on and the dog's moved in.

Tip someone gave on here was to take the photos at the dogs level or below, certainly works. Must say that shot was only done on a phone, going to get it printed on a canvas, came out really good

My OH sent me this from his morning walk - five below zero!
She's not that happy with me as it's 34 where I am. He seems to be enjoying it though.

It was -5 on our walk thus morning too.
Obviously too cold for Leo's ears as he spent bloody ages with his head down a hole...

Unfortunately, we recently had to have Dylan greyhound PTS as he had bone cancer which had spread to his lungs frown

I persuaded OH to visit a local rescue centre 'just for a look around' rolleyes and made the mistake of saying to the guy who was showing us around that I'd mainly had sighthounds and OH collies. He said 'Is that the kind of dog you're interested in, then? Because I might just have the perfect one for you....'

24 hours later, we had been homechecked and were back at the rescue to introduce him to our other dogs and bring him home. So here he is, Max - everything I said I wouldn't have - a saluki/collie cross puppy. Sorry about the quality of the photos:
