My new arrival. 8 1/2 weeks old and already 8.2 kg. His older brother is now contemplating a more energetic future.

My grandfather had a Staffy who would lie in the hearth and sparks from the open fire would singe her fur without her moving a muscle.

'The dog's burning again' was a fairly commonly heard phrase.
Remember years ago my parents dog laid in front of the fire all day and when she got up wobbled and fell over. I can only imagine she had heat stroke or something.
Not mine, but they do go to extremes sometimes.

Well i avoided this thread since 1 of my dogs passed away in June. We only have 1 now, Ellie, our 12 year old Retriever. We have been talking for awhile about getting another but Im bit a of wet blanket when it comes to dogs and the heartbreak they cause when they depart this world was putting me off. We had a St Bernard (male) for 6 years who passed suddenly Jan 13 so still had that feeling of unfinished business (we still to this day talk about the 'trouble' he used to get himself into)
So enough rambling, let me introduce Elsa, picking up early December

That is the normal sleeping position of a St Bernard !
So after a mad weekend, trying to get her settled etc, her she is

Newest addition to our family (well my mums new dog anyway) picked her up yesterday from a rescue in Surrey. She's 5 years old, greyhound and saluki cross. Horribly neglected and 7kgs underweight and recovering from an OP to have half her tail removed.

Odin getting bigger asleep with Lola wearing his cape of calm lol.....he wouldn't sleep unless wearing it. Still the same now and he is 2.5 years old. Both dogs are fab, I'll be absolutely gutted when they eventually go
