Lost a battle with a car... Fortunately a glancing blow... Idiot step-son had got the extending dog lead too long, got a knot in it - and rather then wrapping the excess around his wrist, lost some control on a narrow path...

I hope he has a quick recovery, liking the bandage colour!

Sadly extending leads can be very dangerous and loss of control can happen quickly. Seen a few incidents involving them including an elderly dog getting run over by a van pulling away. The owner had started chatting and allowed the dog to potter unfortunately he walked in front of a parked van. The driver couldn't see the dog as he pulled away.
They can be lethal, both for dogs and owners! I've seen a dog run over on Reigate hill (fatal) due to one of those, the owner getting out of car and dropped it, dog bolted thinking something was chasing it as it clattered behind and it went straight out of the car park into the main road. Utterly heartbreaking frown

Hope your pup recovers quickly! smile

For Mr Squirrel Chase Instinct Esq, I use a 10m training lead, loop it around my hand feed it out or bring it in and a simple loop around my finger friction locks it, I always have on a short near roads. Never liked the plastic extending ones.

One of these - https://www.jollyes.co.uk/clix-long-line-training-...

And he can still have fun looking for squirrels in the woods.

Squirrel acquired.

Its a good way to train your dog, I use one of these now for Lottie, https://www.pet-supermarket.co.uk/HALTI-Training-L... its totally adjustable but once away from roads and other hassles she is off lead anyway smile

We're going away next weekend for a running festival, so went to check out where we will be leaving our hound.

Lovely lady, house is across 4 lots so huge garden. She has 1 6 year old greyhound and a 9 month old puppy.

Ours was pretty happy - and I think the puppy likes her.

She may not want to come home, I don't think I would!

Best co pilots in the world. It's amazing how the devil dog in the back can sometimes be so good but 99% of the time velociraptor.

I bought this cheap crv for wood and dog purposes to keep the other cars clean but even I'm embarresed to get in it now. Needs burning. Gonna have to clean it up and make them go in the boot when dirty. This will not be popular with Logan who sits up front while all the women sit up back, all four of themsmile

Same, I've got a 5m training line with the loop tied for a hand-hold and it's easy to feed out or very rapidly reign in.

Rescued this little chap at about a year old. He'd had 2 homes already. Something I'll never understand as he's the most loving, hilarious and most playful dog I've ever met. Perhaps people just underestimated how much attention he'd require.
