The cats front left due/dew claw has gone a bit funny, I'm not sure if it is a problem or not hence this question.

It looks as if it has stopped retracting. Claw is very long, sharp and curving around back towards her foot pad. She's an indoor cat so we trim her front claws anyway with nail clippers periodically (when we noticed this) but this doesn't look correctable with just taking the end off the nail and as said, it seems to have stopped retracting. No signs of pain, discomfort or infection, the cat is quite happy.

Does she need a trip to the vets?

How old is the cat? They often stop retracting with age. Has it actually gone into the pad? If so vets very soon, otherwise I'd be trimming it.

she's 12ish, so getting on a bit.

Its not close enough to have touched the foot yet, so will control it with trimming.

thanks

Dew claws don't not wear with normal scratch post so do get longer with older cats. Trim regularly and the quick will withdraw be sure not to cut the quick.

When my old girls were around it was a regular
Job to trim the claws to prevent them growing into the pad.
