Thats an anti inflammatory drug, will have some effect on pain but is more to relieve the inflammation and the pain from that.

its the equivalent of the Loxicom that we had Summer on.

might be worth asking the vet if you can combine it with some Tramadol or another opioid that will be a much more effective pain killer.

Reckon if after a week on the combination of those 2 if he is still limping then the vet has done some damage frown

I really feel for you. it looks like it was a smaller op than Summer had and she was pulling me along on the lead after 2 days frown this is what hers looked like after 2 days!

Ouch that looks terrible. I guess I'm just soft but I can't stand seeing animals in pain.

I'd rather it was my legs than my dogs.

He's a bit better today. Putting more weight on it. He broke the cone of shame they put on him. Luckily I'd ordered a better one anyway but I think he got at his stitches last night. They look a little red. Will get them checked out tomorrow.

I think he likes this collar he always has a cushion.

ooo anti gravity cushion lol. We didnt have the cone of shame on Summer, the idiot cant deal with it she just sits and stares up as if trying to see over it, If we put her out in the rain she would drown.
luckily she does have a set of nice soft pyjamas, normally used as a post run mud entrapment system lol but since they cover all 4 legs were brilliant at keeping her off the wound.
Hope you get a good answer at the vets tomorrow,

Update.

We took him to the vet yesterday. Wasn't sure but think there might be an infection. To be in safe side considering what he's been through he prescribed 2 different antibiotics, he was worried any infection might get into the bone.

He's still favouring that leg quite badly but he will put weight on it,. The dogs a bloody idiot I just let him out for a wee and while he was having a sniff arround heard something on the other side of the fence and sprinted the length of the garden.

Bloody stress is killing me .

Give your heart for a dog to tear indeed,

Your poor dog has been through quite a lot, they are a constant worry sometimes!

Looks like he'll be on a lead to pee outside in the garden now...

I was thinking that but that causes it's own issues

If I go for his lead there will be a large reaction of running to the front door and jumping at the door handle, so I'll have to be very careful but this dog is smart.

Then I'll have to put it on him and bring him in without walkies frown

Quick update

He's been a lot more himself today. Smiling and not moping around, first time in nearly two weeks.

He's still limping badly on his left leg, won't put any weight on at all when stood at or lying down. But he is walking on it better so hopefully the anti biopics are doing something.
Interestingly he's putting all his weight on his bad leg yet doesn't seem to be limping St all on that.

But He's also very clingy, more than usual.

I really hope this sorts it for him, I assume all was ok in the end with his other leg?

Yes. But it took 4 weeks for him to start bearing weight on it, as soon as he started doing that we booked him in at this new vet who got us in quickly.

The vet did say it was odd he had issues after such a minor procedure. Also this vet said no reason to keep him in over night so I'm very glad about that.

Pitty I can't be there due to work but the other half will tell me what he said he's done.

Yes he seems fine. Did a very good explanation of what he might do even showed me a video clip.

I got the impression he was worried about us. I.e why go to him when he was already being looked after. I think he thought there was something elese going on. I told him I'd just lost confidence in the other place after they did the wrong leg.
Wonder what they have put in the notes.

Ok.

He has removed some bone. Says the elbow joint is very good ( not sure if he meant before or after bone removal) he expects a good outcome.

Absolutely no jumping or anything for two weeks. There is only one way I can think of doing that and that's keeping him I the crate frown if you saw the clips in the pics thread that's how he is all the time just wants to run, jump and play.

He says he should be able to chase balls again but may limp if we over do It or when cold.

I'm not even going to show him a ball this year. He's just not gentle enough.

I'm just hoping that by summer he's able to go on the long walks he loves

Big list of restrictions. Basically nothing for two weeks. Then 5 minutes walks. No jumping, no running. No hard floors ( we have laminate floors)
Increasing walks for 3 months then at three months no restrictions. It's going to be a tough time. Looking forward to the summer and hopefully taking him places again.
