Ok, only asked as we still have a sprollie on foster from South Yorkshire English Springer Spaniel Rescue that has been very much overlooked. Come November we will have been looking after him for a year and in that time the rescue has not had one enquiry about him. he has matured so much while he has been with us and has grown in to a pleasant dog to have around the house who just wants fuss and attention. His only real issue now is that he still isn't sure about children so couldn't go to a home with kids and because you never know what might be around the corner we walk him with a muzzle on (but he has excellent recall so goes off lead and he comes to us to have the muzzle put on as he knows he is going out!).

I've put a thread about him on here before, but this is his page on the rescues website:

I work 12 hour shifts. 4 days on 4 days off. Minus holiday entitlement I`m off 7 months plus a year. The other half works different hours. The dog would hardly be left alone often and even worst case scenario it`s 5 hours. We`ve looked at a local trusted dog walker thats cheap to pay as well. Seriously, the lucky dog would be that. A lucky dog so from a rescue centers point of view it`s no brainer.
Good luck in your search & I agree with Bex, I'd be ringing the DT shelter up & complaining!

Indeed, not one jot of interest in him. He has turned into a lovely dog now. We are thinking of asking the rescue to remove his original homing thread and just say how nice he is but can't be re-homed with children. Maybe we were being too honest. He seems to be over so many of his issues now, although he may feel comfortable with us, as he has probably been with us for longer than anyone else in his life. We are hoping he doesn't revert to his old ways if he finds a new home.

I'd have thought 5 hours would be fine without the need for a walker to be honest.
No, you`re right. It was a belt and braces indicator of our commitment.

I think that's a very good idea

Can you not keep him?

Not really, no. While we have had him for 10 months now it was never the intention to keep him. We nearly had to send him back to his kennels a few months ago but managed the situation so he is still here.

I'm convinced he would make someone a great dog in the right circumstances. Our intention was to try to help his behavioural issues, then rehome and possibly give another dog a chance to be fostered out of kennels.
