A what Dog thread...

Hello All,
A bit of help is needed!
We currently have a 9 month old pug, playful & full of energy and loves interacting with other dogs when we take him out.
Which got us thinking maybe we could get a dog so they have fun when theyre at home.
But would have to be a certain type of dog to fit into the way Hugo (our pug) is.
Must be a small dog, a good way with children, playful with other dogs.
Any opinions or past experience would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks

Having owned a Pug; he was PTS last year, and now we have a Frenchie why not one of those.
They have similarities, particularly where heat and humidity are concerned and they are also both similarly playful and cheeky, they are both very loving breeds and both love human company and attention and they are of a similar size.
I would say, based on our Frenchie, that a Pug doesn't need as much walking, however as long as it is cool they both have the stamina for long walks if you fancy doing one, both of ours have managed 6 mile gentle walks with ease.
We are thinking of a second dog, the wife wants a Jack Russell however I would prefer another dog that doesn't need vastly different excercise patterns to our Frenchie as it would just be a pain in the arse to have to walk them separately and having had experience with Pugs I would love another, or another Frenchie to keep Daisy company.

We were originally looking at a Frenchie before we got the pug, may be a good shout. Would you say it would be wiser to introduce a female into the house or another male? He is still only young himself so i dont think he would mind another male coming in. May be wrong though. They have similarities, particularly where heat and humidity are concerned and they are also both similarly playful and cheeky. When my OH got her Westie we already had a male spaniel, spoke to our Vet who advised us to get another male to minimise the chance of them fighting. I must confess, that was the exact opposite of what I had thought but six years on it seems to have worked out ok.Gassing Station | All Creatures Great & Small | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
