My last 2 were 19 and then 17. Great innings, very happy cats to the end. One dropped dead, one had to be put to sleep. That was a very tough day.

Our last cat, Keith died of cancer a few years ago.
I could barely believe the words were coming out of my mouth when I asked the nurse to give him the injection.
It still upsets me now to think about it. I'm such a softy.

My dwarf hamster died yesterday (RIP Kev. Such a great little fella) and it got me thinking that our remaining cat has outlived 2 other cats, 1 rabbit, 2 guinea pigs, 4 gerbils and a hamster. She must think she's immortal.

We lost Clyde at 17, Bonnie at 22 and Wednesday at 23. All 3 we had to make the decision for them as their quality of life had gone downhill very quickly at the end (it makes me tearful just typing this). But they were with us for such a long time and gave us such joy. Wonderful, wonderful creatures. It's true the pain of loss is as great as the joy you get from pets.

We con ourselves they are pets when they are really mates.
