An ex girlfriends sister went travelling with her boyfriend - they went to South Africa. One day they went on a paddle boat trip organised by the resort.
The boat got capsized from underneath by an alligator and they all swam for their lives.

The Alligator got the boyfriend and dragged him under and that was that - never seen again.

About a week later his remains were found on the riverbank - all that was left was his spine.

That's a true story yes

They are a business, harvested like cattle, chickens, etc that many eat or make products from everyday. As far as the heavy equipment, he is a 1,000 lbs, would you suggest just slinging it over one's back and walking off?

They have to have a cull every year otherwise the alligators become a big threat to humans. That alligator was killed quickly with a shot to the head, as with every other alligator that gets killed during the alligator season.

True, and a very regulated hunting season it is. Alligators are prolific and trust me, there is no shortage of them.

Anyway, looks likes the Australian salt water crocs have been sorting out the yin and yang recently.
