Geese formation(s)

Just walking in to work, heard the familiar "honk" of geese, looked up, saw half a dozen or so, then more, must have been somewhere between 50 - 100 flying in groups of around half a dozen, was really surprised, so many, have I just led a sheltered life, or is this common?

We have loads flying over our house at twilight at this time of year. Our parrot spots them first and shouts hello to them, lol.

They'll be migrating around this time of year/transferring between feeding grounds. Skeins everywhere!
