"What an unusual dog", I thought.
Discussion
Strolling through the Mall, with its usual collection of mutts and purebreds, I noticed a dog sitting with its owner. Looked a bit like a coyote, I thought. I asked the owner, as on closer inspection it was not a coyote. "Six-month old pure wolf"….
I noticed the double leash. Decided that patting on the head was not such a good idea. The animal was very restless, as it happened.

seriously doubt "pure wolf" as it doesn't look pure and they are very difficult to bring into a situation such as displayed. Much more likely to be a wolf x dog which is easier to apparently domesticate but generally less predictable. However, looks fairly peaceful in pics. Would love/not love to see the response to sudden noise or a curious dog/cat next to the restaurant table!!

I have seen pure wolves and this is as close as they get..it was just the size that got me. It is still very young. It was pacing and climbing up on the seat, not a relaxed animal. Surprisingly, there are pure wolf breeders in the US, not just wolf dogs...here is an example:http://www.freewebs.com/wolfhavenspiritofthepast/a...

We went to an Agricultural Show in September and there was one very similar to this on a lead (not a display but someone's pet). Obviously some hybrid mix of some sort.
It was not happy being in such a crowed environment, was lunging and attacking any other dog in close radius to it and at one stage had a Westie by the throat.
Owners seemed oblivious to what the animal was doing and was not offering any apologies to those the dog was attacking.

I encountered an unusual dog today as it happens.
A Jack Russell / Doberman cross. About twice the size of a JR, short legged and coloured as a Doberman.
The owner says she has never encountered anyone who has prior knowledge of such an animal. Apparently the father was a Doberman, the mother a JR.

A few years ago we had a walk round Lanark Loch and met a greyhound / staffie cross. Superb dog, full of life, but looked very odd.A Jack Russell / Doberman cross. About twice the size of a JR, short legged and coloured as a Doberman.

Honestly, it was like a staffie head stuck on a greyhound body.
Her name was Tallulah as I recall.
A year or two later, we were in the area, had a walk at the same spot and saw her again. Unmistakable.

That's beyond fkwittage, and not fair on the animal.
Absolutely. We kept a fair distance from the animal, we had a our toddler walking and wasn't risking it turning on anyone / something else small. Interesting looking animal, basically a wolf on a lead. But very agitated and very wild eyes. Not sure I could trust something like that tbh.
