Hope the link Works - similar to Ozzie but thats not the reason we went for him.

Thanks for everyone's words of advice. Apologies for my frustration over the last few weeks...our house was not a home without a dog. We get him on Thursday !!!!

I'm sure he would smile At the risk of making you cry again...

The Legacy

When humans die, they make a will
To leave their homes and all they have to those they love.
I, too, would make a will if I could write.
To some poor wistful, lonely stray
I leave my happy home,
My dish, my cosy bed, my cushioned chair, my toy.
The well loved lap, the gentle stroking hand,
the loving voice,
The place I made in someone's heart,
The love that at the last could help me to
a peaceful painless end
Held in loving arms.
If I should die, Oh do not say,
"No more a pet I'll have,
to grieve me by it's loss"
Seek out some lonely, unloved dog
And give my place to him.
This is the legacy I leave behind -
'tis all I have to give.

That's a nice one Moor - feel guilty looking at Ozz but he's around here all the time. I'll always miss him regardless of any new dog....but you can miss people/dogs and move on. I'll help Archie and he'll help us. I'll go into my work shortly with a smile for a change !!

Great news, I tried the link but no pic/info found. Maybe they've removed him.

Thanks Barry, yes, we're OK thanks. We're a few weeks "behind" you, so to speak, and it really is strange how the most odd little things bring a departed dog back to you, really random things. Also, I had to tell a friend who hadn't heard and that was actually harder than I would have expected. But I'm sure we will be thinking about somebody new at some point. Look forward to reading how Thursday goes!

Agreed with everything you said there. I had a few before Ozz - retrievers and Ozz hit me harder than any other dog. Maybe because he was so small and was ruined ? Who knows - but I agree with you. I din't realise just how hard I'd find his death - really underestimated it. Even yesterday I had a moment thinking of him - a new picture we put up..I could barely look at him - felt guilty about another dog taking his place...but no dog will ever take his place - they're all such individuals. Archie has real confidence issues so he will be a work in progress and we will help each other out I'm sure.

You will get there - it isn't an easy time. Even on the odd walk around around the village something clicks and all i think of is the way Ozz would react to something and I can see him. Sounds so bloody soppy but its true - you will no doubt be the same and I doubt these moments will never leave us.

Take it easy.
