I know my friend has helped owners out in this way before now, usually with good results but and it is a big but, owners really have to continue almost to the letter her advice otherwise it rarely continues once dogs are back home. This is not something she does regularly. She would do days not weeks all positive reward based etc (she breeds labs and does gundog work etc)
We sent our dog there after friends recommended them. They did a good job, the trainer we had (Dai) is a nice bloke and our dog was obviously pleased to see him when we took him back for the follow-up. They have good facilities and the staff seem crazy about dogs. They post up photos of playtime with the dogs on their Facebook page every day, and videos of the training.
We didn't have major behavioural issues, but he came back walking nicely on the lead, calmer, much better stay, generally better behaved. To be honest, I didn't really think it was necessary and would have been happy working through it alone, but my wife was having trouble coping with him, we didn't think he was getting any more value from the puppy classes and our friends were telling her we should send him there. They did do a good job, though, and in retrospect I don't think it was a bad call. Three weeks with lots of intensive one-to-one with a very good trainer does make a difference. Our friends who recommended them have a rescue Patterdale who was, shall we say, "difficult", and they worked wonders with her.
