Which dog food?

We feed our 3 year old Lab Orijen, but he can by a bit hyper (and very anxious) and I worry that maybe the high protein content in Orijen is too much for his lifestyle.
I experimented by mixing his food 50/50 with a less rich food for a couple of months (Wagg) and there was definitely a small improvement (but not enough, and his poop got softer).
I'm thinking of moving away from Orijen altogether to something less rich, but I'm struggling to find anything with ingredients that come even close in quality.
I would like a dry food that you don't need to be a chemist to understand the ingredients. Proper food, not just the beaks and anuses they scrape off the floor at the factory. Not interested in a raw diet because he has a tongue like a chameleon and likes giving kisses (I don't want raw meat bacteria all over my face).
Price not really a factor because it's not like anything costs more than Orijen :-\

We feed our Parsons Jack Russell Canagan dry dog food. It is all natural ingredients, contains no grains/cereals and he loves it. I can only buy it from Pets Corner,I haven't found any other shops that sell it. It costs about £12 for a 2kg bag.
Pets Corner are pretty good, they train their staff in dog and cat nutrition so I have been told and can help point you in the right direction food wise.

Traditionally, most adult dry foods have contained 20-30% protein (about 5-8% in wet foods) and many dog owners and dog food manufacturers have suggested that higher protein diets can be harmful. More recently, however, a new wave of high-meat/high-protein foods have shown that as long as it comes from good, animal sources, dogs are more than capable of handling high amounts of protein. I used to think high protein was somehow "bad", I've been feeding Eden 80/20/0 for a couple of months and, both mine (Lurcher - eat anything and fussy Lab) love it.
I've nothing to do with Eden, other than a happy customer.

now this is an active dog that was walked for at least an hour a day, usually a lot more and was a steady 38kg; just been weighed today after 2 weeks of short walks and the new food and he's lost nearly 3kg.
so the performance stuff is out of the window and this stuff for the time being seems to do the trick. although he eats absolutely anything so a fussy dog might not go for it.
